Re: 330 HP (+70) Chip for G35C

Comming from the High Performance End of the F-Body World (Camaro's & Firebirds). Were these guys have nothing better to do than get every single hp out of there cars. There is no way to get 70+ HP out of NA Motor. 20-25 is a resonable number. I would love to see some tech specs on this. This may be a big Nissan story.

Re: 330 HP (+70) Chip for G35C

Very resonable. I put a Garrett stage 2 chip in my '98 Passat 1.8T which gave it another 50 or so HP. With the Tiptronic and traction control it would still chirp the front tires. The ol' Passat sure fooled a lot of other drivers.

dspisak: Newsflash, your Passat is turbo, the G35 is not. Please think before you type. As has been stated about 135 times, chips for factory-turbo cars modify fuel-maps/boost/etc, you can't compare a factory-turbo car and a N/A car when you are talking aftermarket chip tuning.

Mozy: Thanks for the backup.... I said NA.

I have noticed that many people that own the G35's And 350Z's are not to savay on general car knowledge.

Just my .02

Don't worry, savvy will overcome, even if we have to beat them senseless with half inch ratchets

BTW, I don't think savvy comes until you have to figure out (lying on your back under your car) why that 300-400 dollar part doesn't work as well as the stock one and you are now out that money.

I seem to recall certain failures of my own that lead to my now extensive research before I buy stuff.

Re: 330 HP (+70) Chip for G35C

1SlowG35: yeah, I've noticed that alot of people who populate G35 forums are.....outgoing....but don't have much common sense when it coes to car tech. reality.

Chebosto: cool! your maxima was one of the first ones that I fell in love with, and I still remember it snarling...but a WRX wagon is fun too have fun boosting that.

About the G35 vs 350Z thing, to each his own, I love how both look, but the G35 was a little more practical for me, but beleive me, If I could, I would get a track edition 350Z

Sorry to hear you're not able to enjoy your car, but hey thats what you get for being an innovator! Thanks again for being a forward thinker in yet another car enthusiast community!

Hey, VQ power for life, right?

Re: 330 HP (+70) Chip for G35C

Maybe some densling missed a decimal point , maybe it was +7.0hp, sounds more like it. Or maybe this new chip kit includes a magic "electric turbo"

Hi, mozy. Please mozy on back to my post. I was only agreeing with "thisisjohnny", not comparing boosted to NA motors.

Re: 330 HP (+70) Chip for G35C

dspisak: then take it to a boosted forum, there is not point in mentioning turbo cars at all in this context of N/A chips, no point.

Re: 330 HP (+70) Chip for G35C

I disagree. I believe this is also a boosted forum. G35Driver.com has over 1,100 messages concerned with turbocharging. There are probably many more messages concerned with supercharging. There appears to be considerable interest in after-market kits. These after-market kits are just as valid as any other modification. This forum is wonderful for allowing G35 enthusiasts to get together and discuss their cars and their individual preferences. The only thing that matters is that we all enjoy our G35s - and do it safely.

I think he means a thread dealing with FI mods, not a whole other website.

Re: 330 HP (+70) Chip for G35C

I thought the thread went back and forth, but us old guys are easily confused ;-). No problem, no offense meant or taken.

After contemplating this thread's subject for a while I think 70+ HP with a revised ECU is possible. There are many variables that can be tweaked: ignition timing, valve timing, mixture, rev limit, maybe even throttle position. I still think the drive-by-wire design allows a manufacturer the ability to provide a "governor" by electronically limiting the maximum throttle opening.

I'm inclined think that Nissan would probably offer an entire ECU rather than only a chip - less problems with changing an ECU rather than modifying an ECU. Who knows, maybe there would be an exchange program?

I paid $1,200 for an ECU and chip for my Passat. If Nissan offered the "70+ HP chip" for up to that price I would be one of the first in line to purchase it.

Re: 330 HP (+70) Chip for G35C

you didnt contemplate it long enough

btw its come to my attention i can be a real a$$*)%e when i want to prove a point, sorry you guys.

that doesnt change the fact that im right, i will give my car for free to the person that tunes my ecu for 70 hp more without modifying anything else on the car.

Re: 330 HP (+70) Chip for G35C

Just some food for thought:

1999 M3, 3.2L, 240HP@6000
2002 M Coupe, 3.2L, 315HP@7400
2002 M3, 3.2L, 333HP@7900

I assume there are some motor design changes as well as engine mangement changes. But still ...
