What's your oppinion on Royal Purple synthetic oil?

Recently switched to this oil at 30K from regular dino oil just to give it a try. Wanted to know what was everyone's oppinion on this motor oil - good or bad. How does it compare to Amsoil or Redline?

I'm taking my car to the dyno (with my oil being my newest mod j/k ) along with my other FGC members and OZOC 350Z club later today to see how it really affects performance...

Since no-one is chiming in I have heard only good things about their products. In fact I have seen actual dyno increases simply by changing the engine oil. I am going to switch to royal after 2 more oil changes. Definately considering this for my tranny as well.

For some reason, I remember hearing somewhere that RP was overpriced and not as good as some of the other synthetics. But this is just a foggy memory, might not be true.

99.999 percent of people on forums that "know the best motor oil" dont have any qualifications or adequate testing results (or even the ability to test)...so i just say oil is oil mobil 1 comes with corvettes and porsches i believe, it cant be too bad.

keep in mind the goal of a good motor oil isnt to make a fingerprint on a dyno, its to protect your engine. dyno increases might not necessarily be a good thing.

Finally someone with a similar opinion. I'm all about protecting the engine. If someone were to prove to me that Billy Bob's Ghetto Snake Oil is the most protective motor oil, however the drawback is decreased performance, I'd use it. In essence, motor oils have "standards" and companies have standards. I use Mobil 1 and I believe it provides the right protection for my car.

Let's not start the oil controversy again though.

Mobil 1 or Royal Purple are the ONLY synthetics to use. I use Mobil 1.

go check out some of the API ratings on motor oil.. you'll see that royal purple isnt the best.. Just because somethings expensive doesnt mean its the greatest thing. Theres an API rating on every motor oil container.. i forgot what it was but if u wana go look it up then go to a local auto shop and check outthe ratings.. you'll see that Mobil1 and Castrol is ahead of Royal Purple.

1. Mobil1
2. Castrol
3. Royal Purple

BUT if i remeber correctly Mobil1 wasnt the best.. it was up there but not the "best"

with everything said.. you wont go wrong with any as long as you stick to one brand and change your oil when your suppose to

edit: also you guys arnt really stating any facts on WHY you should use (what I personaly do NOT like,) royal purple cause we had the lab results for royal purple a while ago and they were NOT the best oil yet its like what $8 for a qt? I believe they also had something in it that wore down parts faster then mobil1, castrol.. hm dont remember lol its too early in the morning

Just out of curiosity if synthetic is superior over regualar dino why does Infiniti not recommend it? Since they don't recommend synthetic can they come back and be ****** about warranty coverage? Just wondering cuz my engine made a strange noise last night and 2 other times with like 8000 miles.

I agree. You cant really go wrong with any brand as long as the oil is changed on time. Personally, myself and alot of supra owners go with mobile 1. I had 90k on my supra TT and the car never gave me any problems. I always used mobile 1 on that car, and i'll always use mobile 1 on my G. You can pick it up at walmart and for the price, it's a great buy.
