The KP Technologies Shift Light is AWESOME!

Well being a total newbie to the FI world and after seeing how Gman2004 mounted his KP Technologies Shift Light to the A-Pillar Gauge Pod I just had to copy his mounting technique.

Well on the evening drive back from North Carolina I can easily tell you that the LED shift light came right on at 6K rpms, right where Daniel set it up to run. I got 3 quick and bright flashes that told me to shift. As soon as the first light flashed I quickly nailed the 1-2 shift and it was just kissing the rev limiter. On the 2-3 shift I waited for the 3rd light to finish flashing and again, I just missed the rev limiter.

This product will be invaluable for a FI newbie like myself at the track. I can't think of a better product for anyone who wants to do a little night track session.

Fortunately I got one of the few working prototypes installed in my car, but hopefully Kevin will soon be implementing the S/W updates and selling these items to the public. Hopefully G8tor20 can post some of the stealth install pics as this thing is so small and well concealed!

Nice job Kevin!

Will this work with AT? I hate hitting that rev limiter! SOOOO embarrassing. And with AT, it's easy to forget to shift, cause half of the time you're not doing it. Would be nice to have a shift light for AT. Is it based solely on RPM?

Yes it does. SFLG35 has an auto and he has one of these in his car. (At least he did until he gave his to me).

yes its solely based on the rpm signal
you can get it in many different places though: crank position signal, cam signal, injector signal are some.
right now neff has the only one that i know of that is working correctly. i am in the process of gettin somemore but those are already spoken for.
hopefully we can get the few remaining bugs worked out soon and then release them to the public.

FWIW, if Kevin is using the same LED for the production piece he was using for the prototype, it should be no problem seeing it DURING THE DAY as well.

That thing was awesomely bright! Great product!

Daniel and Jason both took pics of my A-Pillar with the shift light (here's a pics of G-man's A-Pillar). I'll try to see if I can get a pic of my A-pillar on here soon...

The top gague has a speaker by it for the blue tooth and the middle gauge has a small 5mm hole drilled next to it in the pod where the LED peeks its head through. The LED has a small shoulder on it and it fits in from behind the A-Pillar to keep it from sliding through the hole you drill. You could easily modify the stock A-Pillar to incorporate this LED or you could mount it inside of your A/C vent next to the drivers left hand and run the wires through the vent. Both installs would be super stealth and very effective, especially at night.

I would hardly say that pic is "better" than my pic.
