Question Oiled Filter vs. Stock Filter Question

Thinking about getting either a JWT Pop Charger or Stillen CAI box with K&N cone filter. I'm slightly concerned about the filter not getting out as much dirt as a stock filter. Anybody know anything about this issue? Specifically, whether using an oiled filter will allow for more dirt to get into the engine and, as a result, cause more engine wear than with the stock filter?

Thanks.

And, any suggestions between the Stillen and the JWT pop charger. I have a 2005 G35 sedan. It's all stock at this point.

The oiled filter works just as good as the stock one. Don't worry too much about it, I've used a K&N filter in every one of my cars since the early 90's.

In my opinion, oiled would probably work better, because the oil attracted the dirt.

jnkirk1974, thanks for your reply on this. Any thoughts on JWT vs. K&N in terms of quality? Are you still using the JWT popcharger?

Any replacement filter is going to let in more air than the stock filter....more air means more dirt/etc. If you are concerned with dirt/etc then I recommend you go for an aftermarket paper filter. Nismo has one ($$$), not sure who else. Only downside is you'll have to replace it, as opposed to "recharging" an oiled one.

K&N is a bigger name. However, you could flip a coin because they are both good.....really!!
