Question Crawford HF cats?

I've seen several discussions about noise/rattling/vibration & heat shields.
Just a few questions....

Is there a definitive answer to this?

Is this the heat sheild that comes on the cat or is it a shield that's on the car?

Is it more prone to be an issue on the coupe or sedan?

Thanks.

edit - oops my bad, should have been in the exhaust forum

Dent the heatshield or pry it with a crowbar to make enough space so that the heatshield doesn't hit against the floor once it's installed. Shouldn't be a problem. I think it's more of an 05 6mt issue than a sedan issue, but I could be wrong.

Mine are on an '03 6MT. No Issues. Actually they've been on and off twice. The first time with the stock manifolds, the second time with Crawford Headers. here heat shields on the cats, but mine fit just fine.

I've seen a diagram on how to make the dent on the heatshield but I couldn't find it. Does anyone know where that thread is at? Thanks!

I had the dealership install the Crawford HF cats for me (05 6mt coupe). They rattled, but only the one on the driver's side. I took it back to the dealership, and they bent the sheild for me. Now, no rattle. I love the cats, otherwise.

Are you running them with or without headers?... what other mods do you have? I've been contemplating Crawford cats - but was waiting till I get headers too... but if they are worth it I might do them first.

What headers are you thinking about getting? I am favoring the strups right now.

I contemplated Strups - especially with that special price they had (have?)... but haven’t heard enough about them to commit... I have been leaning towards Stillen ceramic coated. I like the fact that they are Mandrel bent and not welded (ie Crawford).

Just had the Crawfords HF Cats installed today on my 05AT. No rattles at all and the heat shield did not have to be bent. I also have the Nismo headers.

what is the consensus on cats without headers?... Does anyone feel cats are worth it without headers - or both at the same time?

Maybe I should start a thread on that

Mine are the new ones bc Doug had to make a new batchbefore he could ship me my set. The heat sheat only has to be bent if you dont have the tool to take out the 02 sensor. Most shops have this tool and are able to just take it out of there.
