In another post, I asked about new intakes but forgot to ask some additional questions.

After I install a new intake, I assume I should reset the ECU. Is this correct?

If I do reset the ECU, over time will it reprogram its' self to basically negate the added performance of the additional air by changing fuel/air mix? I read something that seemed to imply this but am not sure if I understood correctly.

If this is the case, will periodically resetting the ECU return the performance? Any problems with doing this?

On another subject, what are 'Clear Sides'? Seen this mentioned but not sure what it is.

some of your questions have been answered in various threads in this forum, did you try a search? the common thinking on the ECU and after market mods, especially exhaust & intake, is over time the ECU will move back to its stock performance, which could negate any gains from mods. the fix of course, is resetting the ECU every so often (i've seen a month as the suggested time). once an after-market ECU mod (either chip or program) is available, you shouldn't need to reset ECU anymore.

clear side markers replace the stock yellow/orange turn signal covers. techincally, a clear signal is not street legal, so there are places that sale a bulb that is still yellow/orange output. i don't know if the stock bulb is clear or not. anyway, its a painless way to change the look of your car and its a pretty popular mod.

 

Stock bulb is clear, but when you buy the JDM clear corners it comes with an amber bulb.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering about the 'Clear Sides'. Never saw those words along with 'markers' and they seemed to always be capitalized so I had assumed they were some brand name for something. Never thought they were simply clear lensed side marker lights. :-0.

On the clear corner issue, most state laws require vehicles sides to reflect amber. With clear corners, there's no amber reflection at all! I have them with amber LED's installed. they look way cool but if I ever get pulled over, which I'm not planning and doing, I could get cited in Illinois for not reflecting amber! At night, even though the light is amber color, I'd still not be steet legal so any type of clear corner on the G is not street legal, even with an amber bulb.
