Alternatives to FI?

If I wanted to add 30-40 lb-ft of torque through NA mods, how could it be done? The car is stock...

I'm considering FI, but I'm debating if I need to spend all that money when I don't technically need an increase of 100 lb-ft of torque...

Thanks guys

No nitrous, I should have mentioned that...

headers and exhaust would be good for how much torque?

Headers, High Flow Cats, Y-Pipe, Plenum, Intake + Z-Tube, Cams. That SHOULD give you around 30-45 HP.

I know that ST or TT would be the best route, but I'm looking for alternatives for some more torque...

i think what they are trying to say is that its not practical or cost effective to look for a gain of 100 pounds of torque N/A.....

resurface your cylinder heads and get a set of cometic head gaskets to bump up compression. upgrade your fuel needs (adj. fuel press. reg., injectors, fuel pump), test pipes, y-pipe, if you should indulge yourself...get the whole exhaust setup. If you want to get more out of your mods, the simple way is to get a TS ECM reflash. Or you can piggy back or stand alone for more fine tuning.

Just from the bolt on ordeals I have just dealt with, I would def. just save my money for FI. I too wanted a all motor car, but like others have stated...it's almost impossible to get those kind of gains without some sort of FI. You could do cams, motor work etc. but you'll prob end up with as much or more than a good FI set-up, especially if you have someone else do the work for you. The whole bolt on thing is very frustrating and expesive if you try to get the big gains you speak of IMHO.

Ivory, the general concensus on the VQ35 engine (the one in your g35) is that it is simply "tapped out". People have gone and done countless mods and spent thousands and thousand of dollars on bolt ons; Cams, Pulleys, Headers, Reflash Chip, intake, exhaust, Plenum etc........ The Dynochart/track times have showed little or no performance.

The VQ is tapped out, there isn't really any extra power hiding in there, at least that is cost effective. The only reasonable solution to more HP/Torque is FI applications...ask the members who have been there and done that.

Sorry bro

It's amazing how people say there is no power to be gained. It's simply not true. There are dyno charts (including mine) that show gains from stock. You can also check the racing threads for ¼ miles time differences.

If you want 100+ HP and TQ, FI is your only option. If you want 30-40 (as you stated) it is feasible with several (bolt on) mods... you are primarily concerned with TQ and the only time I've seen impressive TQ numbers is from a TQ converter (with traditional mods)... Talk to DaveO if you are interested in that route.
