Hardcore stumble on 2005 6mt

I have a 2005 6mt and under WOT acceleration the car will stop, then surge, then stop and surge and so on until I get off the pedal. I have been unable to get this to happen consistantly or in the same rpm range. Most of the time the car is fine, but a few times each commute this happens. Any ideas?

Any codes thrown?

I've seen similar behavior just before a MAF dies......I hope that's not the case. The MAF codes are P0101, P0102, and P0103.

I wonder if the drive-by-wire system is failing? If the pedal assy. is screwy, you should throw P2122 or P2123.

The throttle position sensor has 6 or 7 codes all by itself!

Intermittent problems are hard to diagnose, and Infiniti will most likely not service it unless you throw a code or raise a stink.

No check engine. I'm lost on the code throwing thing. Where is the code displayed. The puter the dealer connects? I need to have this checked before next weekend!

Argh!

Is your VDC on or off when this happens?

This happened on my Maxima (old, real old) and I had the whole distributor replaced only to find out it was the MAF. Damn, only if I knew! Well, I think it is the MAF. It never really did it consistently until it died. So, beware on it.

You can go to a Pep Boys or Autozone and borrow a scanner for free. That will tell you if any codes are pending. Any thrown codes would be accompanied by a "check engine" light. A pedal reset couldn't hurt.

If it is intermittent, I would check any electrical connections you can. (MAF, Pedal assy., throttle body, etc.)

Will Do ChicagoX. The VDC was on sometimes and off during other times. No check engine light is on. I'll check the dealer for a quick in and out.

I had a MAF die on my 03 pathfinder LE 4x4 with the VQ35. I had an intake on it with a K&N filter. I have heard that K&N's can foul MAF sensors if they are oiled to much. The one I put on was strait out of the box, so I didnt oil it any more. Interestingly, GM is now not covering any problems with MAF's if there is a K&N on the car, so I would recommend taking out the filter if you have one in...just so there is no additional hassel in the service department.

When the MAF went on my Path, the engine would not rev over something like 2700 RPM's, it was like there was a rev limiter right there, it would hit it and jerk violently if if you kept on the gas. Luckily, it drove fine under those rpm's, and if forth gear, it still went 60 on the highway without going over that rpm limit so I was able to drive to the dealership fine. I did put the stock intake on the Path when I took it in - no questions asked about the MAF replacement then.

Well...

There is no problem with the motor or any OE on my sedan. The source of all my ill comes from...............the trailer wiring control box. When the right turn signal is used the car cuts fuel. LOL! I brought it into the trailer company and they could not figure it out. We removed the turn signal input on the box and the car runs normal. So, I do have trailer brake and parking lights, just no turn signals. Any idea?

BTW, the box is fine. We did replace it and had the same symptons. All of the wiring is correct and double checked as well.
