Question about 12 hour bat disconnect
Question about 12 hour bat disconnect
I know you lose your radio station presets when you disconnect the battery to erase the ECU memory, but for you NAVI owners out there, do you loose any of your navigation info, ie. address book??

Don't know about the Nav data. You might want to try
the newest ECU reset procedure via the gas pedal movements.
I believe it has been verified that this quick 1 minute reset
works just fine. Read the thread and find out all about it.

You don't lose any info on the nav system- it's stored in hard memory, which doesn't get flushed.

ScottG61376, GeoBau is right, you don't lose any important data in the navi, just average mpg's, not sure about mpg's history, when you do the 12 hr batt disconnect.
Besides the radio presets you mentioned, and the mpg data on navi, only other thing you lose is the resettable odometer (trip) miles (A + B).
If you do the batt disconnect, be sure to disconnect the negative terminal for safety. Diconnecting the positive terminal can leed to arcing.

Re: Question about 12 hour bat disconnect
Haven't done it myself, but the dealership's disconnected my battery on a few service trips.
In addition to the trip computer info, you also reset the maintanence reminders when you disconnect the battery. Nothing Nav-related seems to be lost, though.
