Chnaging Radiator Hoses

I'm going to be installing some custom red SAMCO radiator hoses in my G35 Coupe. I was reading that of course I should drain the coolant from the radiator, but must I also so it for the engine (I looked in the ESM and the engine block has 3 drain plugs)?

JC, where did you find Samco hoses for the G35? Are you modding the Z350 hoses? Just curious as I couldn't find the G application on their site. Thanks

No need to drain from the motor. If you wanted to get crazy, you can do a complete flush and fill, but I think it's a waste of time and money. Simply drain the coolant from the radiator (You should be able to drain about 1 gallon). Replace hoses with Samcos and refill. When I did mine, I was able to put about 1 gallon of 50/50 mix back in. I picked up some Dionized water from duane read or eckards to mix with the coolant. Regular tap water is not reco'd. The minerals in tap water will eventually rust and clog the radiator. Next year or so, you can have the dealer do a complete flush and fill if you're really ****. Don't forget to bleed the system. FIlling it back up is a lil bit of a PITA!

Is this mod strictly cosmetic or is there a performance benefit to the Samco hoses? Thanks.

WHat he said unless you plan on keeping the car for like over 100K miles. Supposedly the Samcos are made to withstand more abuse (temp changes, chemicals etc) and won't fail as soon as rubber hoses. So does it offer some benefit yes, but it certainly is mostly for looks for most peeps! They do seem to be extremely well made!
