HELP QUICK PLEASE ! cant check dipstick oil level

Hi guys,

I know this was probably posted MANY MANY times . however due to my frustration I cant find a damn thing on here.

my problem is this...

emptied the oil out of the car & removed the oil filter.
( the car was on an incline towards the passenger side )

I've filled 3.5 quarts in and it looked like it was over filled from checking the dipstick.

so i removed about 1/2 quart (gusstimate)

anyways...

QUESTION... Every time i check the oil wether its been 10 minutes or 1 minute it still has patches of oil all over the dip stick up to 1 inch over full mark. how do i check the oil properly ?

is it possible the oil is sooo low its lower then the E mark ? and the oil patched past the full is residue on the dipstick tube ?

thanks guys !!!

ppp

maybe you should drain oil from pan without incline... if all oil is drained it should take 4.5-5 quarts.

If you are only in need of 3 quarts total, you definitely did not drain all the old oil. It might be a pain in the @ss, but doing it over and draining all oil then refilling with at least 4 - 4.5 quarts and checking the level is probably your best bet.

OCG35, thanks for your help!

kinda figured more would hop in to help a brother out... but oh well.
anyways frustrated and spent 3hrs on a oil change the end result was
an accurate reading.

turns out this isnt a simple engine like in damn near every other car, that has a seperate dipstick tube directly in the pan to provide an ACCURATE reading. from research it appears there is a oil return line that is part of or next to dipstick area. this is what gives us the bogus readings and the NEED to wait 10+ closer to 30+ minutes to recheck the oil line on the dipstick.... after doing that I received accurate readings.

1 more oil change and I'll decide wether i pay $100 (for dealer + synthetic ) to perform the oil change or I'll do it myself for $35.

If you take them your own oil (about $30) they should only charge about $35 (give or take)

I've never had a problem checking the dip stick in my car. I drain out all the oil, fill it up with 4 quarts, let the car run for 30 seconds, turn it off and put in another quart. Put the dipstick in (dont let it sit in there, push it in and pull it out as fast as you can) and the level is perfect at full.

What a dipstick...............!

What's the big deal, dump all your oil and swap out
that mini filter. Replace the crankcase filler bolt and
drop 5 quarts of what ever you like in the filler. Now
this is the tough part, it's easy to pull the dipstick out
but to find the hole I need to turn on the lights to
replace the damn thing...........

i sincerely doubt the dealer tech check the oil using the dipstick - just a guess

They take out 4-5, replace filter, put in 5...
