I have had Tony's Motordyne XL Plenum 3/8" Spacer on my 2004 G35C for approx. 8 months with very good results. I had an install challenge, and Tony got back to me within a couple of hours with some support. That's an example of great customer service. Great mod, better customer service.

None really caught on until Tony's excellent product. It's apparent the R&D Motordyne does in his mod offerings (rather than just following a money-making trend), and he deserves the support of the G and Z community.
Kudos to you Gord!!! I'm less than 1 year to the VQ mod scene so when I considered Tony's spacer I was not privy to any angled version... I have been lucky enough to receive knowledge form DaveO since purchasing my G - thus my education of the VQ (as limited as it may be).

As I understood it then (as newbies will now) - the front cyl are starved for air due to slope in plenum. There is still (and will probably always be) debate as to hood design or engineering. I have heard from respected source that it is because of the aggressive slope in hood for aero dynamics. I have also heard from equally reliable source that the hood is built around the engine and not visa versa.

I wasn't in the design or engineering room at Nissan so I don’t know (anyone who has first hand knowledge - chime in).

The bottom line is - from this website there is NO DEFINATIVE explanation as to why the plenum is angled. But it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand the importance of getting air to the cylinders... Production cost will determine what will benefit the consumer - thus our agreement. Motordyne's spacer.

BTW - Gordgee, I wish I knew about your grounding gear before I bought Stillen's. Seriously – I was green at the time but made some good (lucky decisions) – but one regret is their wires vs yours. As with Motordyne, your product has received great reviews and some of the cars I’ve comparo’d with have your wires (owners I trust and respect) - I will swap one of these days.

Sorry for the long post folks. Maybe it will help a newbie during a search.

Hi Gordon,

Motordyne actually came out with a plenum spacer a couple months before AAM did but AAM was already established in the market so they were able to get market recognition more quickly. That's cool with me.

Thanks for the clarification. I just remember hearing about a plenum spacer ages ago to which most responded with a lot of skepticism. It seemed to be later that you came out with various options in terms of thickness and reported the data to back your product and successful R&D (which apparently is ongoing as evidenced by your new MREV )

I don't recall exactly when I first heard about the angled spacer, nor whether it was the AAM or not. I remember reading a few posts about problems with the hardware getting a good seal, and the debateable benefits of the angled design. Of course, the Motordyne Spacer now has the reputation as being one of the best designed and R&D'd products out there for the VQ, and great bang-for-the-buck.

I'm actually surprised at the number of owners that have switched over to GroundingGear™ from the big names like Stillen, and Sun Auto (and a few HKS). The positive feedback from these owners has been particularly gratifying (as has the feedback from converted skeptics including some very hard-nosed dealership techs and Managers).
