Throttle Response ?

I was drifting down PCH near Big Sur the other day and found it was a bit difficult to throttle correct the tail end in the G35C. There is always that little bit of throttle lag when I punch it, and alittle lag when I release the throttle. That makes drifting so much more difficult since timing is everything.

I was wondering what would be the best cure to improve throttle response on the VQ engine. I think the Drive-By-Wire mechanism really screws with the linearity of the throttle response. (When I stomp on the throttle, it feels like power comes on immediately, but not full power. Maybe a second later then I get full power from the engine.)

btw: j/k with the PCH part.

Hmm, perhaps your experiencing the fact that VDC cannot totally be turned off and it's doing it's nanny thing in holding back the throttle. I actually really like the throttle.

At what speed were you going when you tried to throttle steer?

30-40mph, nothing major. I can feel the power kicking in, but full power doesn't come until alittle later. It's as if the Drive-By-Wire system is asking "Do you really want full throttle? You sure? ok, here it goes"

AT or MT? What rev range are we talking about then when your trying to get into the throttle?

Maybe it's the VLSD vs. the other kind of LSD's drifters use, since the VLSD lags a bit. I think changing your pulleys out for some UR ones might improve throttle response.

As mentioned, u might want to swap out your crank pulley for some added response.

For a more pronounced throttle response, lighter flywheel.
Hands down.

I agree, everyone's guesses are definately possible contributing factors, but I believe the Drive by Wire throttle still doesn't have the feel and response I have grown use to with all my previous cars, a common complaint from drivers with DBW equipped cars.

I know the reflash changes some of the DBW throttle positions but I don't think it helps with response. It might just be one of the cons of our DBW system. Maybe someone with a reflash can chime in?

Unfortunately, I find the DBW throttle and rediculous stock clutch feel compound each other to really reduce some of the driving experience. I know DBW is technological progress, but somethings are just better left alone.
