Angry Worst experience at Costa Mesa Infiniti 2005 6mt 7k miles

Here's what happened, 1st visit they acknowledged that my shudder valve was defective so they replaced it. 2days later contacted dealer about gas smell, the advisor asked the tech and stated it was normal waited for 2 more days smell did not go away. 2nd visit to the dealer the tech found out that their was a gas leak!, still calm but irritated inside without expressing any anger to the advisor. They found that their was a leak after shudder valve install, tech verified problem and replaced and fixed again. 11:30 on New year's eve my car dies in the middle of the freeway, called in for 3rd visit. They said the shudder valve was defective again! I am still holding my anger inside. After 3rd visit to the dealer they informed me to fill up my gas tank to full, after I left the dealer I filled it all the way up 18.186 gallons. Guess what? now my gas gage is not working properly. Now I am frustrated but remember I am still calm, but really upset. I called the general manager at Costa Mesa Mr. Trotter but he never replied, called Infiniti Consumer affairs and filed a report. Jennifer Bravo called me from CM public relations called and asked me to bring in the car again, I said to be frank with you I am scared to come back to your dealer. Today I dropped if off at Infiniti of Mission Viejo hopefully they will take care of my problems, any suggestions from you guys? This is the fourth time for the same thing, are the techs at Costa Mesa Incompetent?

gas gauge

I have had a similar problem. I would fill my tank, however, it would not register as full about 7/8. I did some research and the dealer replaced a sender valve. I picked up my car and filled the tank, still won't show as full. I pushed in the odometer and travelled about 500 km or 300 miles. This is usually what I get before the low fuel light comes on. I was now showing 3/8 of a tank but had to put close to a full tank of gas. I am now taking it back once again. I should have left it as it was. Any comments from other members on what our problem is??

If I hadn't have reset the odometer I would have ran out of fuel. I'll let you know how I make out, thanks.

Damn that sucks. We have had or 05 with only 8k in at least 6 times in the 6 months that we have owned it. We have taken it in 3 times for squecky brakes, once for part of the dash popping off, part of the molding in the sunroof fell into my lap one night, 2 times for the alignment being off which is still not fixed, and my wife took it in last time for a very loud banging sound that occurred under acceleration. The loud noise was fixed, but not documented on our work order. I called to find out what the sound was and no one had a clue what I was talking about. I wish that I had a chance to hear the car before she took it in. The loud noise is gone, the dash is fixed, and the suroof is fixed. The car still pulls to the right and the brakes still squeck. I hate Infiniti of Sacramento!!

Same problem here (metro-Detroit area). I picked up my car in July and the problem started in December (approx 5k miles). Just after Thanksgiving I had problems getting more than 7 or 8 gallons into the tank when I was getting low. The gas would spill out the neck like it was full (shutting off the pump as well) eventhough I had approx 1/2 tank.

After it happened a second time at another station, I brought it in. They replaced the shutter valve and sent me on my way. The next day I had to fill it up (I thought they would have filled it up to verify the repair) and again, it shut off at 8 gallons AGAIN!!!

They offered to come get it the next day and take a look at it again. This time is was a week before X-mas and they told me that I needed a new instrument cluster because the gage was not working properly. I ended up driving the loaner vehicle until after New Years and they finally called to tell me that the part was backordered.

I wanted my car back so I have been driving it until that part came in. Last weekend, it ran out of gas eventhough the gage showed 1/4 left (mileage seemed ok since I could not rely on the gage - so much for that idea). Luckily the station was right there and I nursed it to the pump.

It finally came in this past week and they installed the new cluster yesterday. Again, I had to put gas in it and guess what.......it won't go past 3/4 eventhough it took 14+ gallons. Ahhhhhhhhhh!

Luckily they are open until 6PM on Fridays and I was able to give it to the Service Manager before he left for the weekend. Again they offered to pick it up 1st thing Monday. What's left?????? Shudder valve (twice) and the cluster have been replaced. I plan on discussion next steps w/ whomever is in charge Monday.

I'm to the point of bringing up the lemon law to rattle some cages. I think my biggest frustration is that no one verified the repair by actually putting gas in it. They gave me the spiel that the gage can be calibrated by moving the float and not actually putting fuel in the tank. I think the second or third time someone brings it in, whomever is working on it could at least verify for themselves that it works before the customer comes and gets it.

I gave up on CM a LONG time ago!!! I bought mud guards (body color match) and had them install... When I got the car back the front were body color, but the rear were black!!! (I have DG). I spoke to the mgr and asked how the hell the tech could have made such a mistake??? Don’t they look at their work when they are done?

This was after 2 other major blunders by them. Needless to say, if they can’t get something simple like color matched mud guards right I will NEVER let them touch the motor or anything else for that matter.

I've been taking it to Tustin every since I have been very pleased.

glad i only bought mine from them and live too far to take it back to them...
although at the time of purchase, the salesguy did mention that the service department was run or managed by female supervisors.... if the tech and service advisors work as hard as some salesguys, then there would be less complaining about bad service...

Infinity of Mission Viejo has been pretty good to me, fixed my spoiler light when it didnt work, and took care of some rattles. They had to track down 1 wire fron front fuse box all the way to spoiler though the whole car to replace it. They did a good job, it took a few days but what do you expect for something labor intensive like that.
Im happy with them and their customer service. Hopefully they will take care of you as well.

Funny; all those dealerships along that street are terrible. I purchased my last car from South Coast Mitsubishi; which was hands down the worst dealership ( perhaps even business) I have ever dealt with. After I bought the car I immediately started taking it to another dealership ( for service or anything)...even though the other dealership was further.
