MD Plenum Spacer Install
alright guys.
i am gettin ready to install my plenum spacer. i got it used from a buddy that sold his car. when i was goin threw all the stuff this morning, i found that some of the internal plenum post spacer gaskets with pressure sensitive adhesive were either gone or craked in half or still stuck to the post. my question is what can i get to replace these gaskets? can i just get some regular rubber washers?
here are some pics.
thanks

I would call Tony at Motordyne Engineering ((661) 993-5111) and see what he thinks. They may be able to send you the new parts you're looking for. I don't know if I'd use just any gasket or spacer. You don't want them breaking down and coming apart.

The new post spacers that Tony supplies are much better than the originals. Those sticky washers that are coming apart WILL be a problem. The new post spacers are a high-temp plastic that grip the bolts. It makes the install easier, and alot safer too. I'm sure Tony will do you right if you ask his advice. Talk/PM with him so that you do it right the first time. You need to know which size spacer you got...3/8, 5/16 or 1/2...as the post spacers must match.
Good luck

That install doesnt look right. Why are the adhesive feet around the circumference of the metal spacers? They are supposed to be installed on the base of them to prevent metal/metal contact between post and lower plenum. What you have there is a real mess with stuff breaking off and making metal flakes getting in the motor. Good thing he sold the car. I just feel sorry for the poor fool who bought it.

The older sticky silicone gaskets could be made to extrude if over torqued, but there isn't a possibility of metal flakes being made them. The aluminum spacer itself cant extrude because its corresponding bolt can't apply enough force and there are no moving parts in the assembly.
Once its all bolted down everything is locked in place.
