Question Vortech Install on Long Island

Hey everyone,

I been looking at this forum as well as G35Frenzy for awhile now and I am the owner of a Black 2004 5AT Coupe, and I just got a question for everyone. I am planning on buying a Vortech supercharger really soon, but I need to know of a reputable shop to install it and tune it in the Long Island, New York area (preferably Nassau County) any help would be greatly appreciated. Also I was wondering if there are any S/C 5AT owners out there who can tell me how the tranny responds and holds up in manumatic mode without getting the valve body upgrade, torque converter, and tranny cooler. Also if anyone has any opinion on the best sounding blow off valve that will work with the vortech (sound clips would be awesome).

Thanks alot
Rob

BINFINITE has an 04 auto with numerous mods in addition to the Vortech. From what I read, the valve body upgrade is amust when you go FI.

His mechanic is in Wantagh. Grand Prix autosport located right behind lil flannegans.

Thanks

Thanks for the response, if anyone else knows of any places please list em. Or if anyone with a Vortech 5AT wants to leave some impressions of how they feel about it (driving, performance, etc.) please do.

Thanks again

Why Vortech? Have you looked at HKS or any of the other FI's out there?

I am looking into FI as well and wanted to know why you are looking into Vortech..

This is the shop you want to be associated with in NY http://theexperience.com/ (Performance Motorsports) especially with Turbo. They have a race team and also a Nissan dealership and manage by Vinny Ten.

I would also suggest Performance motorsports! Great place and people!

I was looking into Vortech because it seemed to be the popular choice for FI, especially for 5AT. I have heard that turbos and twin turbos are not exactly a great idea for an auto car, although I would love to have a turbo setup. Unless someone else can offer some insight to turbo setups and the 5AT Coupe, and if there even are any kits that will work that are out right now without major modification? Please anyone leave some recommendations on what I should do. I am planning on going FI in the next few months, as soon as I get all my questions answered, and obviously get a couple bucks together, hahah.

Question

Thanks for the replies everyone. One other thing I was wondering was with the valve body upgrade, do you come off the gas when shifting in manumatic mode, and if you do, is the shift immediate like a manual? and when you get back on the gas do you chirp tires between gears. Cause right now if you come off the gas when shifting in manumatic there is that slight delay, and if you get back on it too fast you will still be in the previous gear at WOT for like a half a second before it shifts (and tires dont chirp no matter how hard I try, haha). A few last questions, i guess kinda off the topic, but I have heard some vortech g's that sound just like turbos with their blow off valves.

1. Is there any modification need to make a blow off valve on a vortech sound like the blow off valve on a turbo. Cause I dont really want the constant whine of a supercharger, more like the spooling effect and then the loud release sound (i.e. (former)Randy's G)?

2. What other mods should be done to maximize the forced induction. (Plenum spacer, headers, exhaust, high flow cats, etc.)?
