If you want to be in M3 territory, either buy one or supercharge the G. My best 1/4-mile in my M3 was 12.9 sec and I would pull 13-13.2 all of the time. The G35 is quick car but it is not an M3 it is closer to a 330ci.

Maybe the next coupe will be comparable to the E46 M3 but by then BMW will have the E90 V8 400+ hp M3 and possibly the 335ci with a twin turbo I6.

 

Add these tails, additional 80hp

I raced an M3 E46 on the highway. We were doing around 50 when we started. It wasnt a 3 honk race it was I saw him hit the gas a few time. I looked over and and he hit it, and so did I. Since he started first he had about 1/2 car on me and we went up to about 100MPH dead even. No pulling either way.

That was it as the highway had high volume of cars. All I can saw was that car was screaming!!! It was more engine noise then exhaust. I also had 2 other people in the car. He had just one passenger.

I know I know the M3 is suppose to be faster/ is faster but on this race it wasnt.

 

yeah, my G is a 2004 with injen cold air, stillen headers, crawford high flow cats, and injen ses true daul exhaust with titanium tips (track edition). i also have ro_ja 19's on 275's rear 245's front. My little brother has an 04 m3 and i am a way better driver than him. i get to drive both cars fairly often and his is stock due to the fact that he still has his factory warranty. my car has 11k miles and i voided mine haha.
anyway to the point. the cars are very close only after all my mods. they are very close in a drag and i get better grip with my 275's than he does with his 255's and on the highway it is very difficult for me to BEAT him even though i am a better driver (the G does hold its own!). i use my 19's for an excuse but he has 19's too.
G can tag along with an M3 but i doubt you'll beat one with out force induction...sorry guys.

 

well im ont expecting to pull on one hard...just keep up with it, within his rear bumper and door etc...

 

You could always beat an m3 cab w/ top down.

speaking of M3's i just had a run with one today to answer my question!!!

this was a cab, but it had a LOUD as$ exhaust on it. every time he shifted black smoke was coming out of the exhaust. dont know what that was, straight pipes maybe??
he was in front of me and hit it from like 15 mph, i reacted afterwards and was on his tail the whole way through. at about 95-100 i had to brake b/c i was too close to his bumper and would have rear ended him pretty badly....i was pretty impressed w/ my car today. if we had started at the same time and i was next to him i know i would have def passed him easily.

 

dang, is your mechanic in the so-cal area? if so, might need you to hook me up soon.........s/t is not in the distance future......of course he'll be rewarded financially and with pot loads of coffee!!

damn your car is pretty sick too man... as for tonight...yet ANOTHER M3. this one was a vert and it was nothing at all. guy said to me, ey man, if they had it in a vert, id def have one of those....felt kinda nice to hear that from a bmw owner. not cocky at all. cool guy. but still feels awesome to beat an M
