*WTF* slower with headers?

I had my Crawford headers installed 2 weeks ago, and now I think I'm slower! I haven't had it measured via dyno yet, but I race my bud's s2000 and easily beat him. Since the header install, I can't anymore. Any suggestions? If this is the case, I'm ready to put the stock back on

One thing worth noting, my SES light came on immediately after the install, did the pedal reset and gone. It came on again Monday and again I did the reset. So far hasn't come back on.

I did reset the ECU twice. Don't want to sound like a newb, but how can I tell if there's a leak?

Most auto supply shops have OBD-II readers/scanners that they let you use. I would just do that before having the Infiniti dealer take a look. Could be something very simple that the actual code could help determine.

Unless you know what the code is, probably not a good idea to just clear it.

you shouldn't have an SES; could be a leak/cracked headres

you'd know a leak because it'd be going TCK TCK TCK TCK TCK TCK TCK TCK TCK really loudly at idle and all throughout the RPM band

sounds like either your $1000 are broken or the installation got ****ed.

If you had a power robbing leak, you'd know it. The sound would be pretty deafening and the car would be significantly slower. Installing headers wrong is pretty dang hard because there's not much to mess up. The problem with most headers is that they trade low to midrange power for higher rpm power. This is great for HP bragging rights, but it hurt's the overall power under the curve and can either make the car no faster or possibly slower.

there's plenty to mess up; hence all the horror stories about poor intsallations

although I suppose it's not as complicated as doing something like gearing, hehehe.

It depends how the headers are designed. Some headers are designed for top-end. Others, like DC Sports, give very little top-end gains yet improve things very nicely mid-rpm. How the car's tuned matters, too. First, though, is making sure there's no leaks!
