Nissan overfilled the oil?

Hello guys,

I am a little concern about my '05 G35C. I took my car into Nissan, since it is close to my school and uses better oil than the Infiniti dealer here, I noticed that the oil level on the dipstick is WAAY higher than the high mark... Should I call them and tell them about this, or should I just drive like the way it is, will it do damage?

fyi, the car had been sitting for an hour before I checked.

Thank you!

Infiniti dealers will usually put in the oil that you ask them too - at least mine does... Can't really tell from the pic - best to show the service manager and document it.

From the looks of it, you're about 1/2 qt. overfilled. Check it again right after shutting it down. You might have to do it twice wiping down each time due to oil in the tube. If its in the "safe" zone after the 2nd check, you are OK and wont have any air entrainment issues in the oil. If its still showing high, take it back and have them drop a qt. or so out. Dont run it hard until its back in the safe zone.

good advice from ballisticus... you can bend a rod if your oil is too far over filled-
