Oil leak, need advice experts please?

Hey guys,
I have 2004 g35 coupe with a oil leak. I took it to the dealer and they said they fixed it. It wasn't fixed so I need to take back. Why would I get a oil leak from the from little black cover? here are 2 pics.

you can see where they tried to seal it.

it looks like they didnt even pull the cover off, just tried to reseal it from the outside.thats a bullsh!t way of trying to repair a leak.when it stopes raining here im gonna go look at mine and see whats up.hopefully ill find something to help you out.i went and took a look at mine and they would have to take the s/c drive assembly off to remove it,which they def did not do.if they charged you for it get your money back, but dont expect them to take of the drive assembly for free.

no you can tell they took it off but they might not have completely cleaned off the old silicone. It leaks oil because there is oil in there and for some reason it was never sealed properly. good thing its under warranty

Unhappy

I dont know with my s/c if I have warranty.
I had performance nissan install a stage 3 pulley and change all the belts since they were in there. He had a tough time getting the old pulley off it was banged up pretty bad when they gave me my old parts. I ended up with a oil leak a little while afterwards not thinking it could have anything to do with my SC, I just took to infiniti to look at and after 2 trips they say its the main bolt that goes into the block that holds the pulley that is causing the leak.So they wont touch it. Also when they were in there infiniti pointed out that the main pulley or I think its called a harmonic balancer. The big pulley that runs everything with the 2 belts running off it is wobling. I hope performance nissans rep is as good as people say. If not I will have to pay quit a bit to fix this stuff. I would think, I cant remeber the date performance nissan did the work but is was 2 weeks before IDRC. about 1 1/2 months.

It looks like its leaking from your cam cover. After my rebuild I had leaking from my cam cover. They pulled the cover off, found a pinched o-ring, replaced it, and all is well.

There is a pressurized oil feed running right though that cover, so trying to simply seal it from the outside is asking for future leaks. Have them pull the cover and replace the O-ring/gasket. Its under warranty, have them do it right.

I would also ask them to provide a free oil change for half-assing it the first time. Good luck

Supercharging increases the blow by [sump pressure] and places extra stress on seals. Common to see accelerated leakage and seal failure [eventually]. Depends on boost amounts and durations [And amount of rings wear]. PCV will be optimized for oem thus under sized for WOT pressures.
