i have read tony say that the diff b/w the 5/16 and 1/2 is small - so creating more volume beyond that *should* have minimal impact.

Nothing like actually trying it though - if you've got CIPHER or a GTECH or DYNO to test it...

Dan, I will be doing the same on wednesday. I have the kinetix plenum and the MD 5/16 spacer. All is going on the car on thursday along with the stillen catback and headers. They will do a before and after dyno. I have not seen any info on here about adding just the spacer when someone already has a performance plenum. The area has already been increased for airflow so i'm not sure if that's an overkill issue there, but good to find out regardless.

on another note, the injen sounds sweet , i kept it short ram.

The specific volume of the Crawford Plenum and 1/2" spacer will be much greater than the Kinetix and the 5/16" spacer. The results may not be similar.

In our shootout we noted little correlation between specific volume and performance--at least on a pure stock 6-speed 350Z. That said, my personal testing noted some mid-range and high end advantage to the Crawford V5 and Cast Plenums as well as the 1/2" Motordyne spacer when installed separately. I believe this is because of my other intake, exhaust and ECM mods. IMHO however, stacking components to a greater specific volume than either the Crawford Plenum or Motordyne 1/2" spacer offers very little or no advantage.

so do you think it will be worth it to combine the cast plenum and the 1/2 spacer?
when you combined them did it clear the hood or did you have to use the hood spacer kit?

i have the invida 350z exhaust and test pipes on the car already for exhaust
i have an z tube for intake, and the crawford cast thats already on there.

i figure it would give more torque because the runner lengths would be lengthened a little bit.

the torque would be more helpful to me since i will be goin to zdayz this weekend. when i get home from zdayz i will most likey take the spacer off. that is if it doesnt clear the hood and i have to use the hood spacer kit. if it clears the hood then i might leave it on.

No I don't. I've never combined either Crawford and any spacer together (I revised my comments in my previous post above for better clarity). As for hood clearance you'll have to look elsewhere for a definitive answer. My guess is firm maybe on the sedan, but not the coupe or 350Z. From my limited observations any component or combination thereof that's bigger or taller didn't perform any better than than these did separately.

Have you dynoed with your current set of mods? If so did you get an A/F reading? I wouldn't be at all surprised if you find you're running pretty lean.

thanks dave
ill just leave it off then.

no i havent dynoed with my current mods nor do i have an a/f reading. i am however gettin my test pipes put on tomorrow and i have an a/f guage to put in as well tomorrow. so i will be able to watch it all the time. i will get some good reading on the way up to zdayz this year.

also foo_g is letting me borrow hiw laptop and autoenginuity scan tool for zdayz. so i will be able to road dyno the car and read all the different sensors in the car. foo_g has setup a groupbuy for the scan tool if anyone is interested you should pm him. from what i hear is a pretty good deal
