Fuel level sensors which does what?

Does any one know how the 2 fuel level sensors work?
Does one read from full to 1/2 tank with the other reading from 1/2 tank to empty?
or

Thanks Daveed,
That's the manual, I have that but it doesn't say what each unit does.

The primary sending unit is on the passenger side of the fuel tank hump. The secondary is on the driver side. The fuel pump assembly draws fuel from the resovoir on the passenger side and as it does so, creates a siphon effect which draws fuel from the drivers side to the passenger side for the fuel pump pick up that goes to the motor. The ecu averages the levels of the 2 sensor inputs for the fuel gauge reading. Hope that helps.
