The reason that that part of the pipe is cut is because when i get the intake i got it from a friend that had it on his altima and he had to cut it so that he could redirect the throttle plate the way he needed it to go for his intake.
What i did to install it on my infiniti g35 was to get a 90o aluminum bent and i used connecting boots to connect the bend and the flange to the intake and it worked fine for me. If you dont like the connecting boot thing then you can just get it welded back together and your back to normal.

they really dont hence the reason that he cut it. the FWD version the throttle comes off of the center. But he was able to muster a 13.0 and just over 300 hp with it.... it was a 2002 altima fyi
