Question. Is there anything that protects the electrode from being damaged or readjusted during shipping? I know they're supposed to be pre-gapped and you're not supposed to re-gap them for possible damage of the iridium tip. What happens if during shipping the box gets jarred so that the tips get mis-gapped?

the plugs have a small cylindrcal cardboard piece that goes over the tips to prevent them from getting damaged while in the box.

now, if you take a hammer and smash the box, than yes, the tips will get damaged, otherwise you're good to go.
