SCCA and Drivers Edge

The Drivers Edge

SCCA Autocross

How many of you would be down to do a few of these events this year?

I am planning on hitting up Drivers Edge in April and also want to do as many autocrosses as possible.

Lets get some G's out at the track this year!!

Yup.. I said driving school, un-timed event and none of it mattered. They all heard track and said no way.

That was Geico, Farmers, and Progressive.

Are you looking for some sort of "track only" insurance or just basic insurance? I'm with Farmers but I never read through their legalese to see if a track event is excluded.

Anyways, accidents only happen out on the road ... and that's what I would tell my insurance agent if anything happened

I think most regular insurance companies have clauses saying they won't cover damage if it's in a competitive event, or a timed event. If it's just a 'driving school' thing I think legally they would still have to cover it if push comes to shove. Unless they have specific clauses saying anything on a track period is not our problem. And the agents you speak to on the phone might not know there **** down to that level of detail...but yeah, what John said sounds like an even better idea

I was looking for something that would cover anything.. Just basic insurance that will cover me if something happens at the track too. I am finding out really fast that there is no such thing.

Looks like I may not be doing drivers edge for a little while because of this. I want to be covered if something may happen.

I was wondering what happened to you, I probably took your spot because I was on standby and just showed up in the morning THANKS!!!

Word around the camp fire is to read your policy any look for mention of "off road events". Or go see a real insurance agent in person and explain it to him/her and show them the pamphlet/web page.

My car is no longer competitive in Autocross, I'm in XP now class so I'll attend those only on my days off of the race track, or if I run out of money for brakes. But look for me at MotorSport, Eagles Canyon, and Texas World!

Eagles Canyon

I am confirmed for Eagles Canyon on March 28/29th. I cant wait to check out this track.

Watching YouTube videos is getting me all excited. 100+mph on a few straights. I think a Porsche hit 120.....

(I wont be in my G, but a C5 Z06)

Looks like ECR requires at least 2 full days (minimum of 8 sessions) at a creditable driving school before you can race there. I only have one session at MSR so I guess that counts me out!
