Yes, I have installed the HKS from Chad on a 2005. You have to purchase the rear bracket and 2 rubber hangers separately (Chad can get them for you and include them in the HKS box).

When you PM him, make sure he knows its for an 05 and you want the bracket, bolts and 2 rubber hanger to make it work. It is still plug and play, you just have to install the bracket using existing factory holes.

Jamey, what's the sound like? I'm really nervous about drone or a cheap sounding unit. If it has that rich melodic sound under throttle but is also quiet while cruising, I will probably go for it. Thanks for your comments.

It sounds great! There is absolutely nothing cheap or ricer about it. It does have a deep, exotic sound while accelerating, however, while cruising I hear more noise from my crappy Horrenzas than drone from the exhaust. I have had the Stillen on my car and have heard the Borla. The HKS has less drone than either. I do not think you will be disappointed. When driving around, it in no way interferes with conversation or listening to the radio.

If you want me to, I can take some sound clips of my car. Just let me know.

That DOES sound good. I'm gonna go for it once Chad gets back Aug 1.

I agree with Jamey. It is awesome. No rice sound at all. More exotic and deeper tone. No drone at all. Mine sounds great with JWT pop charger, Z tube, Crawford plenum and coupe mid pipe. For the money (via Chad) best price around on a new one, it is well worth it. Looks good too. One word of warning though. IF your ride is lowered be very careful on those steeper driveways, etc. I've scraped mine once or twice now. My G sedan sits on Z springs so not a big drop but enough to scrape the tips and can if the situation is right. Take it slow. I'll try to post some sound clips soon.

If you are getting one for an 05 or 06 you are actually less likely to scrape with the HKS than the stock muffler because the HKS is a little more "tucked in" when compared to the 05 or 06 stock muffler.

Jamey - Is it tucked in higher on the o5/06 than an '03? Personally, I think the HKS sits lower in it's place than my stock muffler did.

TunerDad,

They changed the rear bumper and mufflers on the 05s. The HKS (designed on the 03-04s) doesn't stick out as much as the stock muffler on the 05s. I don't have pics of the stock muffler but I do have pics of my old Stillen. The Stillen stuck out as far as the stock muffler from my bumper. As you can see from the pics, the HKS is shorter and less likely to scrape (my stock muffler would scrape on my driveway if I didn't angle, I have no problems with the HKS).

One more just because the HKS looks so sweet:

TunerDad,

I agree with you, once you lower you have more chance of scraping. I installed the z springs yesterday and took my driveway very slow the first time. No problems at all thank goodness.

Your car looks good by the way. The HKS looks much better than your previous setup. I wish the G came from the factory with a dual setup. Kudos to you for trying. Your setup reminds me of my old F-150. Oh, and I have got to get some wheels!

Does anyone have a pic of the HKS rear section with the Nismo rear diffuser on the 03-04? The problem I had was that once I put my diffuser on...my stock muffler tips basically disappeared. From the TunerDad's pic above, it doesn't look like it's much longer..vs. the Stillen's tips.

I wanted to go for the HKS because of: the great reviews I've heard, the performance gains, the HKS quality, the just enough noise boost, the great price Chad is offering and I need to regain my muffler

TunerDad - you got? If you do - post sound files pls?!
BTW, I have coupe sport suspension, I don't have any scraping problems.

Hey Andy - I'll be working on some sound clips soon. Curious to know why you went coupe springs/shocks instead of Z? Not much drop.

The HKS tips are about the same position as stock in my opinion but don't stick out as much as the Stillen tips. You are saying with the Nismo body kit rear section it somewhat hides or covers the tips right? Either way I think you will be VERY satisfied with the HKS quality, sound and performance.
