you need to splice the wires if you have an earlier model G35, 03-05 in order to make the trunk button work yes. Since those models did not have that option.

but for the 06-07 coupes, the trunk button wiring is already there. you do have to disconnect the wiring on the driver's light and re-use the OEM one on that side, but it's still plug and play.

the JDM tails look OK but the reason i fell in love with this car was cos of its all red tails so im gona keep mine.
