Fixed Painted Rims :-) @ East Coast Kustom Gainesville, FL
So I found a local guy that has been painting for 15 years, is presently the master painter at the Toyota dealership and has a shop here in Gainesville to do the repair paint job on the rims. For those that don't know I bought these PIAA's on ebay & they were mispackaged and damaged upon shipment.
The guy's name is Stacey @ East Coast Kustom Collision & Repair - PM me for contact info! He also polished the lips to a nice shine :-)
Here are the before pics of the worst rim - ignore the powder... that was the guy's "packaging material" - yep, you guessed it, he used DRY WALL pieces as a spacer in the box and yep, you guessed it again, during transit, the drywall disintegrated!
Can you say OUCH?!
And after visiting East Coast Kustom Collision & Repair... (the double picture is to show the color w and w/o flash)
I wanted a darker color and I am quite happy with the results!
I would recommend Stacey to anyone in town. He stands by his work. I saw an imperfection on one of the rims during inspection he fixed it and had it ready the next day. (Note: Stacey paints during the night and has a guy that does the finishing prep during the 10A-5P hours, so he hadn't seen the rims as a finished product when I paid them a visit).
I know people always say go to Jax or O-town to get stuff done, but I'm glad to have found a well schooled painter to do the job locally.
And its official, I'll be picking up the fender roller on Monday!

I'm tempted to do it now... my rear tires are completely bald and one is leaking air!
But considering my height situation and fingeration limitations...
I think it would be best to wait till after I roll the fenders. IF you look carefully at the tires in that pic, you'll see a line on the tire where the previous owner's G rubbed. Now think about a 2+" drop in the rear and barely being able to fit a pinky. It's going to be close and I'm not willing to risk "finding out" that its too close w/o rolled fenders when I go over the speed bump in my neighborhood.

ok, so out of impatience I put on the rear rims... and did a test by driving the rear right side up a ramp to see the clearance...
I took pictures, but my neighbor has the camera at the moment...
it is so close, it's rediculous, but it runs perfectly with no rubbing!
I described it to my friend on AIM... here's what was said:
camber is still -2.2 in the rear so after I roll the fenders, I'll install the toe bolts to bring it out to spec.
I had to lower the front a bit more to match the rear... it looks good, but its rediculously low. I don't think this height will last for long. We'll see how it feels when I stiffen up the rear struts - then the decision will be made.
