which florida guys have a vortech?

now that vortech has a kit for the revups, I am considering it. I would really like to hear a G35 setup though,.....in person. I have a feeling that it is not as loud as some people make it out to be.

Are there any meets any time soon where I could listen to and maybe get a ride in someones car?

Thanks,

Andrew

They do have one now for the revups? Good gracious, it took them a year

I don't know what your idea of loud is, but an APS turbo for example would be quieter for daily driving. It would depend on whether the car has aftermarket headers, etc etc. I do like the loudness though, nothing sexier than the BOV sound If the S/C kit for my car came with a BOV instead of a stupid bypass valve which you could never hear, I would have jumped on it a long time ago for the sound alone.

And I believe cj350 has a Vortech in Orlando.. no one that I can think of down here.

I had it. The unit itself was quiet. My exhaust was loud as hell though. headers+testpipes+Injen=plane I loved it.

ask jason, G8tor20 what he thinks of vortech

i think only a few people have had rattling vortechs, but if it was mine and it was rattling i would either bang it with a hammer, or take it apart!! right Matt!!

i think with your exhaust system that you have it would be very quiet.

what is the difference in the kits for the rev up, just the brackets or some other differences??

BTW CJs car is l o u d . you dont want to use his as an example...

I'm used to the typical vortech gear noises. I loved the sound when I had a mustang. I really like the sound of the the V-1 series (straight cut gears), but I guess I need to judge the sound on the G to see if it mates up with what I need.

BTW Finiti, you can probably change the Bypass valve on the BMW blower system to an open bypass. I'm not sure which system it is, but I have succesfully done it on other cars before. Even if the air is being metered before the blower, it can be done. Let me know which kit, and I'll look into it.

Is it the AAW unit? Where does the MAF go in that install? before or after the blower (draw-thru or blow-thru)? where do they place the bypass valve?

you can't really see it all in the pics on the AAW site.

.......and about 30+ horsepower. They are saying that the added efficiency from the variable exhaust cam makes it pull realyl hard up top.

Vortech is now rating the stock kit at 440HP for the revups. Should be really strong after a good tune, too.

That's because yours was a blow-off valve(bov) Matt. A bypass valve, or bpv, reroutes the air back into the the air filter side of the supercharger or turbo typically in a draw thru MAF setup. The Vortech G/Z kit uses a Blow thru MAF setup which typically gets a BOV.

BoV (blow-off valve) and CPV (compressor bypass valve) are BOTH the same thing. What you guys are talking about and the only difference is venting to the atmosphere.

not really. The difference is that the vortech unit is always open under vaccum. That is why you get the jet engine effect under part throttle.

other units, like a greddy (for example) need both manifold vaccum and pressure in the pipes to open up.
