considering a '99 Q45

i passed by the local Infiniti dealer and saw a '99 Q45t on the lot. low miles and clean.

i have always liked that model/year.

i haven't driven it yet, but might take it out for a test drive and see how it rides.

am i nuts to think about going from an '05 G sedan, to a '99 Q45?

opinions?

yeah i thought about the warranty issue, but i also would have no car payment for the next 3 years either, at 345/mo.

so theoretically, i should have the extra cash to lay out for repairs, if needed.

no u wouldnt

1) once a car starts degrading, it costs more than $345/mo
2) are you really going to start a "fix my car" account and put $345/mo in it??

i thought being they are supposed to be good vehicles, the one i was looking at only has 25k original miles, it shouldn't require that much in maintaining funds.

but you do make a good point. it would be the first car i owned in over 8 years that did not have a warranty of some kind.

If the price was good enough and the condition of the car was good enough, I'd buy it. I'd first check Consumer Reports used car guide to make sure there weren't any major issues with it. I'd also have it checked out by a mechanic to make sure it is saound. And I'd search around to see if that model vehicle had any major problems.

I wouldn't trade my G for it though.
