Anyone Run Michelin Pilot Sport PS2

I need some new shoes for my G coupe and the dealer recommended these, along with the Bridgestone Potenzas and Goodyear GSD3's.

anyone have any experience with the Michelins?

Thanks in advance!

My firts two sets of tires were Pilots. IMO they were the best tires I've owned but wear quickly and are very expensive. Wear starts early at about 10K and by 13K the road noise was pretty harsh. If you can afford to replace them anually, I say get them. It was costing me about $1100 a year installed for 18"'s. I opted out when I put 19"'s on as I couldn't handle the additional cost.

^^+1

they are awesome tires, but they do wear quickly and they are expensive. You may be able to replace the rears twice before replacing the fronts again.

Are all of you guys talking about the regular Pilot Sports? He's asking about PS2's... IMO one of the best street tires money can buy. I put ~3000 miles on a friend's PS2's in all kinds of weather and they were fantastic. Pretty quiet too, but they were brand new so I don't know how they perform later on. As far as tread life, another friend got 10K HARD driven miles out of them. You can probably get 20K if you drive like a granny. To me though they're overkill, unless you want to squeeze every bit of performance out of a performance tire, too expensive for what they are and the dealer was just probably trying to sell the priciest tire they had. Toyo T1R is a cheaper alternative and there's a reason why they are so popular.

Which Bridgestones is your dealer talking about? My guess is S03, another great but overpriced tire. Quite heavy too.

Which tires...................?

Michelin P/S are the best! And the Goodyears are
great shoes too! Don't bother with the Bridgestones.
If you'll notice the UTQG Treadwear is 140, that's
lower than most drag radials at 160. I went thru a
set of these in 10k and they aren't cheap!

ps2's are probably 1 of the best tires for our cars. the only drawback on them is the price. for almost the same performance and a lot cheaper, you can get other tires.

Does anyone know how the Pilot Sport A/S compares to the PS2? The A/S tread looks mean and possibly not as good in rain. Also, I don't see the PS2 in a 45 profile over 17. You guys must run lower and probably wider?

BTW, I love my pilot sports... rears are getting low and recently started shopping myself. I don't see a lot of support for the Nitto 555, wonder why?

Check tirerack.com for info on tires as well as reviews and ratings from people who bought them.

the a/s is just that, an all season tire. i would get it if you lived up north where it snowed but its not necessary in florida. stick with the ps2 if you're spending the money on michelins. ya most of us are running 30-35 with our tires. widths are usually 245-255 up front and 275-285 rear.

I just hit 10,000 miles with the Bridgestone Potenzas and the road noise is very loud. One of the unfortunate issues with single directional tires is that they get noisy fast.

Craig had a set of Falken FK451 tires on his red 350Z at the Dyno Days Meet in Tampa. They are very aggressive looking. If they come in a size you can use, they might be a good choice.
