I have this intake, but I want to get a replacement K&N filter. I called Grubbs and got no answer as to the part number. Anyone have a clue? It's generic, right? Like I can get one at Pep Boys or something???

piping, what are u talking about??
the K&N filter usually goes in the stock air box...and therefore u have to get the one that fits our airbox...i cant see the end of that CAI but its prolly a cone filter and the K&N is not what u need.

The instructions for the pipe install actually say "AEM" at the bottom, so I'm assuming it's an AEM intake. It is a true CAI with the huge, cone filter at the bottom. There is no stock air-box or drop in filter, it has to fit the tubing. I just don't have the ability to get up under the car to look at the piping or get the filter off without getting it into the air. My plan is to get a new filter, get it oiled, and when I'm getting my car dyno'd at Jeremy's on Sunday, I can use that time to swap my old filter for the clean one and simply always have a spare for the future...
So, anyone know of the part number or general answer as to if these cone filters are generic in size???

cass i know that k&n makes cone filters as well.
heres a quick page i found with a few: http://www.ad-discountperformance.co...5f85d9809f5a2c
the auto store might be able to tell you which 1 would fit or you could just compare dimensions.
I have a K&N Typhoon cold air intake. It is similar to your Grubbs intake which is a made by AEM (who also makes the nismo intake as well).
I remember for our last dyno day I wanted to change out my filter but didn't have the time or cleaning kit to clean my old one. I checked discout auto parts and autozone to see if they had a suitable conical filter that I could quickly slap on in the place of my old one. I was going by these specs:
http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=RX-4730
Unfortunately both stores did not carry anything close to it. Pepboys did however. They had a cheap crappy conical filter. I think the brand was "poweradder" or something like that and it sold for $25. You just have to buy the one with the different adapters for the inlet tube to ensure it fits on your intake tube (my K&N typhoon intake was 3 inchs in diameter).
Actually...I was browsing the web and here's what it looked like.
PowerAdder P4 Air Filter
High Flow cotton fiber filter element
Triple Chrome-Plated base and top
Includes filter oil & gear drive clamp
Fits 3", 3-1/2" & 4" diameter inlet tubes
10year/100,000 mile warranty

I bought one and used that for the dyno day till I replaced it with a real K&N conical filter.

Yeah, that would work but with the rain and everything, and the fact that I have no bypass valve, I can't trust that...
Yes, Gilley, I can do that but with the drying time needed after cleaning it, and then the reoil, it's best to let them dry overnight. I was going to buy and extra $50 filter so I could just slap the new one on and not have to wait since I have no real means of getting under the car safely at home.
I'll just dyno with a dirty filter and clean that one later when I swap my cats next week (got some Crawfords for a great deal!)...
