system update

well if you guys remember, i was having problems with my system overheating and cutting out. i thought it might have just been that the power and ground were too thin. anyways, jasons buddy works at sound advice and said hed take a look at it. he found that the ground was not touching bare metal so it was probably causing a lot of resistance. he fixed it and redid the boxes in carpet which is what i wanted originally. the color is a little brighter than stock but still looks great. he also tweaked the settings a bit. the best part is he didnt even charge me for about 45 mins of work which was awesome of him. well here are the pics...

before

after

its too tiring carrying beer out to the car. it was a pain taking out the 9 cases that were in there last week.

Most importantly, how does it sound? I am thinking about getting a similar box and sub. I want something that still leaves me some trunk space.

He did a nice job. It looks a lot better. I like the box too. where did you get it?

I'm also glad you took off the sticker. It looked cheesy.

thanks for the advice. jason and i started working on the sticker. it was definitely tacky.

as far as the box, its a custom fiberglass box for a 12". the shop that first installed everything in st louis built it for me. the 4080 only fits a 10". the nice thing is my boston sub only needs .75 cu ft of air space so it works very well.

last year, i hit 126db with my gain at about 50%. its only a 500w amp. chris the install guy, retweaked my gain and other settings a bit. it would be nice to recheck and see if i saw any improvement.

thanks again jason. i told you how much i wanted this redone and i still cant believe chris didnt charge me. i was very willing to pay for it.

edit: as far as the sound, its pretty crisp. im happy with the boston because i didnt get a sub just to drown out everything else. its plenty of bass for our small cars. i wanted a bass control **** but they only came with the bigger amps. i think when i finally get a double din, it'll give me some more control from inside the car but ive got no complaints right now.

You're welcome again. I told you I would get you taken care of and hooked up. It really wasn't that big a thing to take care of. Even if you wanted "custom work" done, I can get you hooked you up for a great price.

If you need a bass ****, I can ask Chris and see what he says, maybe there's one lying around the shop that he can use. I'll check with him tomorrow.

Oh yea, I was up at Sound Advice again today, and got my Camera installed, it's great!! "No Charge" again, lol.

You have pics of your setup? What equipment do you have? What exactly are you looking for as far as a setup?
