Angry Got T-Boned

Happened Saturday morning on Kennedy Blvd. in Tampa. A lady driving a 2007 Mercedes ran a red light and hit the passenger side of my car. No one was hurt. The estimate is $7,300 and it will take 17 days. Now I'm driving a POS Chevy Cobalt rental. It sucks!---Sorry for the bad pics, I didn't have a camera in the car so the insurance adjuster took these.

That's too bad. The important thing is that you weren't hurt. Be sure to submit a claim for diminished value of your car.

diminished value is very hard to get. you have to get a body shop to say how much the value of your car has gone down by and most of the time they have to have a written record. most body shops will tell you verbally but will not write it down for you on paper. g8tor20 was able to do this but his car was only 2 weeks old. he however was not able to get a body shop to be willing to write it down at all, but since he is a lawyer the insurance adjuster gave it to him cause he was goin to fight it. and since he would be fighting it for free they just gave it to him instead of goin to court

SFLG35--Thanks for the info. I'll ask the body shop to put it on paper, the worst they can say is no.

The dealer would be a better source for the loss of value for a car since the dealer sells cars and most body shops do not.

I was able to get my mom a check from the insurer of the lady that rear ended her and never provided anything on paper. She just told them that the local Toyota dealership (she has a Toyota) told her the car would be worth about $1500 less since it had been rear ended. GEICO settled with her for $1000. You can also get a few hundred bucks to settle a potential bodily injury claim.
