Serive Issue with Car and Infiniti of Palm Beach....

Hey guys.....

On my way to ocala yesterday, my car started to act up. The engine throttle would go up and down randomly and intermitingly to the point of undrivable. I had it towed to Infiniti of Palm Beach.

They are telling me that since I had a supercharger on there, it might not be under warranty, even though the vortech was taken off like 20,000 miles ago. (I guess i was an idiot when I took it to John Olivo for service on the rattle cause it shows up on the service records now).

I know the legalities of aftermarket stuff, but I didnt know what other peoples experiences were.

I think they are making me pay for an hours labor to diagnose it and then they will determine if its covered under warranty or not.

On top of that, they are out of loaners for the week, so I have nothing to drive. WTF

Does anyone have any good contacts with Infiniti of Palm Beach? (I bought it there but dont know anyone in the service department)

TIA

Jason

that sucks dude sorry to hear i dont know anyone

you shouldnt have to pay for it though cause they have to prove that it was the supercharger, plus i dont think that should matter because its not on the car now.

You are both correct: they cannot deny warranty work if they cannot prove the aftermarket part caused the damage in question...do you have service records since the removal of the Vortech???

sucks dude, i was wondering how infiniti of palm beach was, i am up for my 2nd oil change and was going to go there. Funny thing is i was up in Ocala all weekend, was at my brother in laws house off SR200. If you saw a Black 07G35 sedan around time it could have been me.

magnusson moss. there must be causation. they owe you a duty unless they can prove that the aftermarket part foreseeably caused the issue. -law student advice- if you want more info PM me.

Infiniti of Palm Beach has horrible service.Ive aleways had a hard time to get anythin serviced. My spoiler was loose a while back so I took it in to get it tightened. So this guy that greets me tries to fix it for me and says Sawgrass should do this cuz I bought from them. I got mad and said this IS Infiniti right?.... so there shouldnt be a problem. Anyway, he tightens it and sees that the middle hindge of the spoiler has no fastner. I guess the tech forgot it. So instead of putting it on he tightens the other two and leaves that one as is. I come back and check and see if it wobbles, wich it doesnt anymore, and asked if he placed a fastner on the middle part of the spoiler. He said, "no, You'll be ok." Then he said that my spoiler was an aftermarket one. So I told him to pull up my service record and saw that it was indeed done by the dealer.... Ive had various altercations with IOPB. My speakers blew out the other week and they didnt want to cover it cuz they said I listen to it 2 loud and that I play my ipod/custom cds so its my fault. I finally got them 2 order the speakers. Then the lady that was takin my info down said that thery were doin me a favor and that if they blew again they wouldnt cover it. So we got into an argument for like 10 min and I ended up finishing the rant with" If I drove a Mercedes and I was 50, it would be a different story. I paid for an Infinity not a Hundai, therefore my speakers WILL be replace as many times as they blow." I hate having to go there. I wish there was a closer Infiniti dealership around. Im thinkin of going to Palm Beach Nissan from now on.

Sue them if they try to deny your warranty because the Vortech was on there.

I sasid to myself that I would never buy from a Schumacher dealer. I have not heard one good story from that place. I bought a Passat from them and it was always hell to get serviced. They never had loaners although the sales staff will assure you that their are "tons" of loaners. Good luck trying to phone your service writer. I once found over 200 miles on the odo after a service.

Unfortunately, they are the only Infiniti dealer in town so I shopped there for my G. Their sales and service staff seems friendly, but they could really careless, they only worry about getting paid. They do not have the attitude of maintaning and keeping customers for life.

I ended up getting my car some where else. They found out and got PISSED. The salesman called me and personally threaten me with lines like "you gonna get your car serviced here right?....I'll make a note of that" with a chuckle.

needless to say, I'm going to Coconut creek or Sawgrass for service. I will never buy another car or get service from a Schumacher dealer again.

They get pissed if you talk about other dealers.

Hey guys. Thanks for the reply. Thanks for the legal advice but I know the Magnasson Act pretty well. The only problem is they can deny it and I would have to sue them and go throuh the hassel. I'd think I would win as the Vortech has been off for so long. But i still have to go through the hassel

As for the problem, the said it was just low on gas and simply put in 2.5 gallons of fuel and said everything checked out. When we filled the tank on the way home it only took 12.5 gallons. (So, 12.5 + 2.5 = 5 gallons short). I know my guage is f'ed up. When it hits a quarter tank, it simply drops to empty within a few seconds and my Nav fuel economy goes from about 100 miles to **** to empty. Doesnt make sense.

I think I will record the next event on the digital camera and take it to Jon as he may be willing to look into it further.

(And no i have not tried an ECU reset...i may try that just in case)

Yeah, it's a hassle getting the attorney, meeting with them, paying out of pocket, etc., but I believe that recovery guarantess payment of the attorney fees (on top of your damages) when the complaint is pled referencing a violation of the act itself. It's the dealer's burden to prove the part caused the damage, not yours to prove it didn't. I'd think there are plenty of attorneys who would take that case...
