Dealership woes...

I went to the dealership here in Orlando to get a few things fixed with the car. some of the issues were:

1. the clutch was sticking halfway down, and i would have to put my foot underneath to "pull" it back out.
2. LED's in spoiler burnt out.
3. AC had a weird smell...
4. i wanted to go in for the seatbelt mod.

Now let me explain... 1. the Clutch they dealer said they cant touch unless they SEE it in person. it happens sporadically so i took a video. but they said a video is useless...Absolutely rediculous.
2. LED's are supposed to last like a super long time, so 1 1/2 years and the light goes, i think somethings fishy?... I got the spoiler added on from the dealer for $500 and aside from getting ripped off i think they gave me a non-oem spoiler.
3. The AC thing they are charging me 90 dollars for a cabin filter or 130 for a special stronger one...
4. the seatbelt mod i asked the service writer about i found from here: http://www.6mt.net/mod-g35-seatbelt-fix.php
She replies to me saying its absolutely not possible and there are liability issues. But, she did give me a the telephone number to Infiniti consumer affairs??

Aside from all of this, she also says to me "im sorry because you didn't request a loaner vehicle i cant give you one, and we are going to have to reschedule to get a loaner for you."

So much for working with me a little, or making me feel like buying an Infiniti was a wise decision...

this happened 3 days ago just getting a chance to see what you guys think.
the car has 24k miles and was purchased in september 2005. she is still new! ;[

/rant.

any suggestions?

1) Don't go back to this dealer... sounds like you're getting screwed...

Not sure why they would charge you for burnt out led's... would imagine that would be covered under warranty but I can see where they could possibly consider that a "consumable".

Go to autozone and pick up a $25 cabin air filter and replace it yourself... it's not that difficult and there's a DIY out there somewhere about adding a carbon element to filter out odors

Not quite sure about the seatbelt thing... will have to take a peek the next I get in my car... I've never noticed it

cabin filter is $13 at autozone and takes less than 30 minutes to replace on your own.

aside from that, go to lokey infiniti in clearwater.

Search some of the old threads about OI and find the owner's number, he's been particularly helpful to those of us on the boards because of the negative feedback in the past. Peter or something was his name... I'm sure somebody here knows, he'll get you fixed up...

Well I didn't name any dealers specifically, and im not trying to give them negative feedback, just looking for some help. Ill take a look and see if i can find that thread though, thank you.

They didn't ask me to pay for the LED in the spoiler, but 1-2 of the diodes in the center just aren't lighting up anymore. I think the whole strip needs to be replaced, under warranty of course.

Thanks for the quick responses! very much appreciated & i feel better already. ;]

Well, there is only one Infiniti dealer in Orlando. The words Orlando and Infiniti are in the name.

I can understand all of the issues you are having and the responses given to you.

Seeing a video of the clutch issue isn't the same as experiencing the problem in person. It's easier to diagnose the problem.

They should replace the spoiler LEDs but I'm not surprised that the spoiler may not be OEM.

For the AC issue, get a new cabin filter from Advance Auto Parts and install it. Then spray Lysol or Ozium into the intake vent in the passenger footwell with the AC on high and recirculation. Do it until the smell is gone. It worked for me when I had a small leak.

I don't blame the dealership for not doing the seatbelt mod. Even though it is a Nissan part, you are using it in a way for which it was not intended. Yes, you can do that safely, but if something happened, Orlando Infiniti is likely going to get sued for doing the modification. Buy the passenger side buckle and DIY for cheap.

It is true that you need to schedule a service appointment to ensure you get a loaner. Sometimes the loaners are Enterprise rental cars though.

Do the AC and seatbelt mods yourself, then schedule an appointment for them to check out the sticking clutch anf fix the LEDs.
