Well, Clearwater beach is under major construction. The Hilton is always nice...right on the beach and closest to Pier 60, but it's espensive. A really nice hotel just opened, http://www.sandpearl.com/

Shephards real nice, stayed there the two times I went to Clearwater Beach and had a real good time. Hilton is also nice, more expensive plus they're undergoing some repairs.

I was also looking for something on the around the $100 and on the beach. The Grand Plaza Hotel Beachfront Resort was the only one I could find that looked decent for the price, but is a little farther down than the other hotels.

I booked them (Sandpearl) for my wedding reception when they first started building. They are rating it nicer than the Vinoy! Man i cant wait. BTW, this is a resort hotel and requires a 2 night minimum.
Back on subject, you might have to look a few miles from the beach for $100. That price on the beach will get you a first class dump.
