DIY HELP???: How do I remove the passenger seat control???

I've determined that the contact point must be bad or dirty in the passenger seat control switch... do any of you know how to remove this without breaking anything so I can just clean it. Damn thing goes forwards but not backwords...

I'm bout ready to give up...

Any suggestions?

Sorry admins for resurrecting this thread from the grave, but has anyone been able to fix this problem with just contact cleaner? I'm having the same problem. (Suggestions)

AND can someone direct me to a DIY (if one exist) since I tried searching like I always have and always find the answer eventually, but having trouble on this one.

Thanks!

^^ no need to apologize. I am having issues too.

First it was my drivers side, after spending a ridiculous amount on the part and labor on something I could have and should have fixed myself.... I call the stealership for a qoute on the passenger switch and I figured I would save the labor and install it myself....

Well I nearly choked when I hear the price for the switch.... I am kist trying to verify if the price is right, $3500 for the damn switch... I asked why when I paid $225 for the drivers side. He said cause the passenger side is connected to the motor assembly, so you have to purchase the whole thing.... Idk if this is true as I just got off the phone with them and I am searching on my iPhone for answers or help cause that is just ridiculous.....

That's what I said, that couldn't be right.... But this was the stealership afterall. Yes I would rather buy the brides or some new coupe seats.

Well I finally got time to mess with it and I found out it wasnt full of grease or anything. It seems the little contact bar that is inside of the switch for some reason doesnt get any contact, IDK if its from just normal wear or something else. But I bent the bar just a tad and it worked.... until I put everything back in the car. For some reason it wont recline up again but the seat now moves forward and back, before it wouldnt move back either..

So I plan to find another switch or get a drivers side and make it work......

I just cant believe they would try and charge $3,380 (as I got a quote today) for something that is not needed. Or for something I did not purposely break...

you can actually dismantle the switch all the way to the contact points.

1. remove seat bolts
2. tilt seat back and let it rest on the back seat.
3. unplug all plugs (seat warmer, airbag, ocupancy sensor, and power for the seat) i think.
4. take set out of car
5. peel tape off the side of the switch assembly to access two phillips screws to remove the switch assembly.
6. pull switch appart with a thin flat blade (you will see the clip points)

^^ I did that and lost one of the bb's, the serve as a bearing I guess... I have pics if anyone is interested. So I found another BB sized object that I think might be the problem, this time... will have to rip it all apart again.
