I was wondering how necessary if at all is it to replace the stock shocks when getting springs? I was looking to get springs cuz i want to lower my G, and i was told that the stock shocks won;'t be able to handle the drop after a certain period of time...Is this something to worry about? I have about $400 to spend and I know that the Tein S-Tech's plus install will be almost that, and I dont have enough money for shocks so I was wondering if it would be a problem.....I wish i had money for coilovers! Anyway, can someone help me out

 

i didnt change my shocks and i never had a problem !

 

Ok.....thanks man..Yea i want to lower it badly to clear up the wheel gap but was told that i needed shocks as well....So damn expensive!! What springs are you running/ would you recommend? I want about a 1"-1.5" drop

 

i got tein s techs the drop is not too low and not too high ! i think these will work for you

 

Idealy you want to swap both spring and shock but many people only do springs with no problems.

 

25k miles on my stock shocks at least with tein 350z h-techs and no problems. ive even taken the car airborne. i would use the $ instead for camber kits though to save your tires.

 

you do not need shocks as everyone else has told you.
if you are payin $400 for the springs and install you should shoot yourself, or let me do it for $350. lmao

there is no way that is should cost that much. if you are goin to pay 400 you are gettin a$$ raped, and suggest you lube up pretty good before you go, or find some place else to do the install!!

 

You should be thinking about camber kits or new tires too. A lower ride is going to add more negative camber.

Also, your stock shocks are 5 years old. They will likely need to be replaced before too long just due to their age. You can install the springs now and get new shocks later when you have more money.

 

If you're paying someone to install them for you, considering buying some shocks at the same time. You'll basically be paying for labor twice.

If you're doing the install yourself, hurry up and git r done..

 

It was actually at Japtrix where i was told it would be around $180 labor for the install. Ive been told it takes a minimum of 2 hrs to do and i guess depending on the shop labor is expensive

 

$350 and 8 hours and we'll take care of you.

 

Bring couple of cases of beer and he might do it for less, but will take longer

 

When I dropped my g on s-techs I was -6 degrees on my front camber. With a kit I am still 1.7 off in the ft but got rear back in spec with an SPC kit. My struts did blow out after 2,500 miles or so but replaced them. Sounds as if people will help ya out. Springs are cheep Id do them myself and get someone who's done it before to help. But theres gonna be a few things you might need as well if your gonna take that drop. That would def put you over budget. Just my opinion good luck I love my drop.

 

i have s-techs and with a compressor install took less than 2 hours. rears can be swap'd out in less than 1/2 hour each, just helper springs no messing with shocks in rears. drop is perfect about 1.3" in front and about 1" in rear, ride is a bit softer than im used too (240sx owner) but not bad. if you have performance pak g35 coupe i beleive shocks are tokico hp's which will hold up pretty well. do not pay anything to install get a bud and do it urself.
with money saved get adj. rear camber.

With a camber kit don't you have to have that professionally done, like an alignment or something?
