i have a hks exhaust and it sounds pretty good until i get on it and then it starts to sound real ricey does anybody with a hks have this problem ? is there something i can do besides changing the exhaust out for something different ? i like the look of the hks so i really dont want to go that route but the sound is too honda civic for me ! so anyway i may have a exhaust for sale if there is no fix for this !!

 

That is why i hate the injen and hks. They sound good until they go above 3K rpms and then they just sound like hondas with mufflers. Even my g/f pointed that out.

Go with the greddy. quiet until you step on it - has a nice design as well.

Are the test pipes that you have resonated? if they aren't that could also be the reason for it.

As far as the look, I believe the Fast Intentions guys can sell you similar tips to the ones on the HKS exhaust with their setup.

 

Don't blame it on the HKS exhaust if you have test pipes.

I have Crawford HFC's and headers and mine doesn't rasp.

 

The hks exhaust with OEM cats and headers rasps like hell. There is no way your exhaust has no rasp to it jb.

Seriously look into the greddy or fujitsubo (spelling?). Both sound great with headers and cats/pipes.

Actually now that I think about it, I think Ryan had the HKS with resonated test pipes and it had some rasp (I think he posted a video of it as well) and ended up switching to HFCs.

 

high flow cats might give you a deeper, meaner sound. headers will give you rasp. hks is high pitched. short of changing out the exhaust, thats your best bet.

i have the greddy evo2 with helix tp's and it still has a ricey sound to it.

 

I don't get how any of you can say it ISN'T the exhaust?!?! Do you guys clean your ears out ever? I am sorry, but the HKS by itself is already border line too raspy. If you add HFC's, test pipes, or resonated test pipes it is only going to become MORE raspy. If you add headers ontop of all that...forget about it!!!!! You are going to have the raspiest sounding exhaust out there.
