same thing happened to me.. i drove for 9 months with a suspended license and i didnt know it !! the cop was cool in the fact that he only took my license and didnt take my car or plate.. he did give me a ticket for suspended license without knowledge and did not arrest me. before he left he told me to call a friend to come drive me home, which i did thinking he would probly be waiting to pull me over down the road... anyway get ready to pay $150 (if it hasnt increased) to reinstate your license

Well, hope all goes well with the insurance co. Didn't know they can have your license suspended just like that without any notification whatsoever. Might want to ask them about that. Anyway, you're better off being out $148 than not being able to drive your sweet ride.

Yeah it could have been a lot worse and I am very lucky as far as that goes. I'm also lucky to have such awesome friends and understanding bosses (I can't make it to work tomorrow lol oops)

Sorry for your string of bad luck, V.

How is one supposed to know about this kinda stuff? Insurance companies are way sneaky and straight up wrong sometimes. You'd think they would at least call you!

I had something similar happen to me like 10 years ago. I had insurance with company A and I stopped paying it but took out insurance with company B. Company A turned me in for not having insurance and my license was suspended without me knowing. Got pulled over for illegal window tint (gay), ran my license and told me it was suspended. Then said "can I search your car?". I said "no" and then he said "well I can take you to jail for driving on suspended license and search it anyway or you can just let me search now". So I let him search the car and he found some weed and a pipe which he then arrested me for. He did not take me to jail though, he ROR'd me. What sux is that it happened in Port Charlotte so I had to get my license cleared up then drive back down for court which they ended up dropping the charges for because the evidence was now missing and my license was fixed. It was some good bud so I am sure the officer took he because he even commented when he found it. Good times!

I've had my license suspended before AND a warrant out for my arrest. lol

Long story short - my sister drove through North Carolina MANY MANY years ago on a suspended license, got pulled over doing 20+ over the limit and said she was ME - gave them my social & birth date! So imagine my surprise when I went to transfer my license to the state of Florida a few years ago and they told me I couldn't. They said your license is suspended in the state of NC! So I called them to find out the deal, which they THEN directed me over to the local police department. They said that I could turn myself in, and then sort things out later after I went up there. I said LOOK, I'm not going up there just so you guys can ARREST me and then wait in jail until I either bail out or get a special hearing from the magistrate!

I called my sister and REAMED her a new one! I said you have two options here - either you hire me a lawyer for mistaken identity OR I turn your a$$ in! So my mother and she got a lawyer, I faxed over a copy of my duty orders which put me NO WHERE in the area she got pulled over in, they compared my signature to the one signed on the ticket and after 2 weeks of "forensics" I'm sure, they expunged the arrest warrant and suspended license. The kicker? When my license was suspended and I had a warrant, I was already working at the PD and they never caught it. lol My life = drama. I should write a soap for ABC or better yet, a novella for Univision.

Yeah, for future reference for anyone - by saying no you can't search my vehicle, they WILL look for other ways to make your life miserable - additional tickets and/or arrest. lol You can actually have your license suspended for declining the search - if its already suspended, you can be arrested. It's a case of - how do you want to be screwed and just how BADLY
