Ok serious question for you guys...

My attorney is telling me that I have to pay my ticket ($148) and THEN take the class. After I take the class, the 3 points gets dropped. Therefore my insurance won't go up, right? I have a friend that's a paralegal and he's saying I don't have to pay the ticket if I take the class... Which doesn't sound right to me, but he's telling me that my attorney is wrong(??). I will still have the Driving on Suspended License on my record (but no points on license), and if I get 2 more infractions (Driving on Suspended License and/or DUI) within the next 3 years my license goes away for 5 years. Which is fine, I just have to be a good girl for the next 3 years I don't plan on having either happen to me *knock on wood*

The alternative is going to court to plead whatever it is I have to plead to make it come off of my record. Court is in Martin county and I don't really have $350-500 to pay for an attorney/court fees. The only benefit to this is that it comes off my record and I don't have to worry about the "3 years" crap.

Any advice guys?? Thx

i recommend doing what your attorney says. i mean i had a DUI dropped to reckless, but believe me i still paid fees out the ***, had to take like 3 or 4 classes, DUI still floats around my name, AND i had a good *** attorney. so, i would said avoid the trouble of paying attorney fees, pay the fine, take the class, it's over!

you have to pay the ticket before the class. you will not receive points for that ticket and your insurance should not go up unless you switch insurance providers. a new insurance provider will look at how many tickets you've had in the last three years. taking the class only removes points, not the fact you have received a ticket. i have a attorney in tampa that will postpone court dates until the officer doesn't show. 90% of the time it works, and if the cop shows, there is a settlement with the judge where you have to pay court cost and other fees. this process usually takes about 5 months and you still are able to drive without you insurance going up or a suspended license. if you hire a attorney within that county, it should only be about 125-200 bucks. if you get a lawyer don't pay the ticket just take it to them first, they will take care of it.

id pay the ticket unless it was a really high one (like doing 30+ mph over posted limit in a construction/school zone) otherwise not worth the hassle. but definately take the class. I like the comedy improve one but the online one works too.

Thanks guys... This was for the Driving on Suspended License ticket that I got back a few weekends ago when I was staying the weekend with Kroft and Sarge. I think I will just pay the ticket and take the class, and be an angel for the next 3 years.

I thought I understood the situation, and then I got all confused, so thanks for confirming I won't be switching my insurance any time soon, lol

Sometimes the class reduces the price of the ticket, but unless you goto court and the judge drops the ticket, you have to pay for it. Im not a pro at this or anything

did you not see my post? 275/35/19 is the perfect size for a 10.5 rear if you dont want to be too meaty.

wow so much wrong info. bg is the only 1 right. what you need to do is call the clerk of court for wherever you got the ticket. most of the time what happens is you take the class which gives you like 10% off the ticket, then you send in the fine AND class certificate. but make sure you call and ask first how they want it handled since some counties are different.
