New rotors should be here by friday... which means that my car will be out of commission until sunday morning....
Is it really necessary to do a few hard stops from 60-0 to get the pads and rotors to "set" or "bond" or whatever the word is?
I was always told to just go easy on the brakes for a little while, and avoid riding the brake(example, on off ramps).

id recommend it. i did 3 sets of 10 60-0 slow downs when bedding my brakes. they dont have to be slamming on the brakes, just firm stops. and give it a few minutes to cool down in between each set of 10. its not unusual to see smoke or have a strong smell coming from them as they bed.
i read online that i should drive the car around for a while (day or so) to get the zinc plating, then do a few of those stops... i was thinking of doing my normal commute to UCF on monday and then do those stops monday night when its late and noone is on the road

Long time no post, school's been consuming most of my time. Hope all is going well for you guys.
My Vredestein's are getting a little worn down. I'm hydroplaning a lot and having trouble keeping traction when accelerating hard through a turn. I went to get quotes on tires and uhhh...
I wish I would have known how much tires cost for 19" wheels before! Haha, not really I love my wheels but wow. A set of Michelins are over $1600 installed... the cheapest they could do was just over $1000 for a no name mixed brand for the front and rear. I'd rather go for the name though...
Anyone know any cheaper tire dealers around here or am I gonna be stuck with throwing down $1600 to get a decent set of tires?
Thanks guys!

no thats from hard usage not bedding.
whenever you get new rotors, you should bed the brakes. it allows pad material to be deposited on the rotors for better stopping power. if you dont want to do it, thats fine - its only your brakes.
michelin ps2s are great tires but low treadware and pretty expensive. there are plenty of good brands for around $700-$1000 for all 4. if they can only give you those 2 options, its time to go to a better shop.
good idea even for drilled&slotted rotors?
