Question Anyone here have a Sequoia? Suspension Q

Merry Christmas all. I know - odd place for a Sequoia question, but I've registered on two Toy forums and they're useless. Someone here may have a solution, or otherwise point me in the right direction. Any help would be appreciated.

I bought my mother's 2001 Sequoia - she, in turn, bought an '09.

She wants the old one back!

There is a lot of roll to the new one. So much so, that I don't look forward to an evasive maneuver at speed. My older model is much stiffer and feels like it has a lower center. She would be happy to forfeit some of the soft ride for more responsive handling and less roll.

Not sure what I need. Stiffer aftermarket sways? different springs? Combination of both?

Anyway, if you have thoughts, please share them.

Regards,

Keib

Hmm...

I would say trade it in for something you might like better. Car and trucks (and SUV's) have been getting bigger and bigger over the years. A giant sequoia SUV, which is probably even bigger in the 09 year than the 01 year, will probably have a less responsive handling simply because of that. Afterall, Toyota already doesn't focus on performance as much as practicality and comfort.

If handling is something important to you, and you want to stick with Toyota, why not go for a Lexus RX or some other crossover. Of course your sacrificing size for sportiness but maybe that's something you'd consider? Talk to Doug (Lexusk8), I'm sure he'll be happy to help you with the next Lexus of your choice!

I'd hate for you to spend more money on turning the Sequoia into different type of vehicle completely.

But to answer your question, I would say stiffer sways, lower suspension (springs, shocks, or struts), or even bigger rims/tires. I'm just not sure that getting aftermarket suspension will still give you the results you're looking for.

I'd check to see if the 07+ TRD Tundra suspension will fit. Firmer shocks and a thicker sway bar should help. Is the truck 2WD or 4WD?

House computer crapped out, but thanks for you thoughts. Tundra suspension is a good idea.

Guys - the truck is great. I...just like my g, just want to tighten it up. I have to think the handling could be improved without completely compromising the "feel" of the truck.

Thanks....Keib
