Tires: Need opinions

I am looking to put on some new tread. Was thinking about the Bridgestone Potenza RE960 AS Pole Position...

This car is a daily driver... Driven by the girlfriend (Basically a grocery getter).

It currently has Sumitomo Touring LSV tires (which the previous owner installed I'm guessing). After I bought the car I discovered the previous owner put the same size tire on all 4... (they should be 2 different sizes)... The tires were cupped and making alot of noise.

I did pull the tires from the rims and rotate them which got rid of the cupping and alot of the noise but it is time to replace...

Looking for a long lasting, Quiet ride... Not too worried about high speed performance, remember it's a grocery getter... and looking for good wet weather performance...

Well, Lets hear the opinions...

bridgestones wear really fast.

try falken fk-452
nitto invo

or my fav

Vredestein sessanta

All are much less expensive than bridgestones and last longer and have minimal road noise

I <3 my Nittos. I have the Neo Gens and they're great. They have a harder compound on the inside of the tire so that they wear evenly. I have 0 complaints with mine. They're quiet and great in the rain (until you get down to 2/32", then they're not so great lol).

+1 for Yokohama S-Drives. I really like the look of the tire as well.

After looking at prices, Potenzas seem to be overpriced vs what you can get outta other brands.

Look for something with a higher treadwear. They're probably cheaper, too. If it's for the GF, then you probably don't need super sticky tires if she's not a "spirited driver".

I saw some General Exclaim UHP tires for like $149 (rears). Something I wouldn't run, but if it's a grocery getter, you could save a lot of money. Treadwear on them is like 380 I think. My FK452s are 300.

I am definately NOT going to put Generals on it... I do drive the wheels off of it once in a while... The Bridgestone Potenza RE 960AS Pole Position's are about $185 for
235/50R17 with 40,000 mi warranty... Figured they would be a little better than the Generals... I just want something that is QUIET and will last a while and are not a POS... I don't mind spending the money for decent tires... I just need to know what will last on these cars and are quiet also...

AND... As far as "Spirited Drivers"... I ride Harley's also. I ride with a girl who has her own Custom HD Springer SE... If she aint doing 90+ ... Then she is parked! And that girl will out ride Most all men I know!!!

I NEVER under estimate a woman!

OK... Now that I am politically correct... I can go on with life!

need to know what size rims you have....i was under the impression you had oem 19's not 17's. This is a coupe correct?

The rim size will determine which tires you can run that are available in a matched set for the oem sizes.

Ahh, okay. I wouldn't put generals on either. But that price I posted for them is for 19's. They would probably be even cheaper for 17's. All the ladies that I know (except for V, lol) are like "why do you drive like a maniac?" or "why do you spend so much money on your car?". I'm glad you/she is not one of them =)

I have been in this discussion many times and have read more tire reviews lately and talked to more people and the best tire and tires I love are the potenza 760 sports trust me on this. They are ranked 2nd on tire rack and have a little better rating then the michilen ps2's. I have driven on them and they are the best bang for the buck and have a nice price tag less then bfg and ps2's. Tire rack is your friend do some research your going to get alot of mixed reviews from some people who don't know all the facts im not a tire engineer but I have done my research and have seen the results. Thats just my 2. cents.
