Final Drive. Changing it out doesn't really make more torque. Just makes the gears shorter, depending on which FD gear you put in. I think the autos have 3.3 or 3.4. The manuals have 3.5 (like mine). I think the 2nd gen g's have 3.7 gears. The Nissan trucks have a 4.08 gear, I believe. That's a popular option since it's a simple swap. Think you can keep the same pumpkin.

Basically, the bigger the number, the higher the engine would rev at any particular road speed. Meaning you (or your auto) would have to shift more often. The advantage is being in the power band more often. Disadvantage is gas mileage, and sometimes having issues with cruise control.

Usually the auto guys want higher gears and the manual guys want lower gears.

people change gears for quicker acceleration most of the time. however you lose out on top end speed by doing that.
