DD kit

For those of you with aftermarket head units in your cars, did you go with the JDM DD kit or the standard metra one? I hear everyone talking about JDM is a must, but being that I do not have dual climate control in mine, is the metra one really that poor of quality?

I bought it and it has worked great for me. the material matches the color of the car's dash. The only thing is the buttons are soft on the AC controls but I liked having the Dual controls for the AC.

I've got the Metra Kit and I'm not happy with it at all. After installing it the a/c controls did not work which led to a call then I had to take the thing apart and move a jumper blah blah. Just a pain in the ***.

The button quality is my biggest complaint, after taking it apart I just couldn't seem to get the buttons right so they're not level, not to mention I just don't like the feel of them and it looks out of place.

Overall I'm not happy with the quality, but I did get it for $60, about 1/5 the cost of the JDM kit, when I stop being so cheap I'll buy the JDM kit.

Crutchfield - they were running a deal if you purchased a headunit you got a nice discount on the dash kit. That's the only reason I purchased the headunit from crutchfield.

Crap. I'm doing a computer install.

Maybe one of my friends wants a new headunit... is the deal still on?

I just checked and with the purchase of a headunit it's $99 (that seems to be an ongoing deal). However when I got it there was an extra % off of that $99 (it was right before they got in the black kits).
