Straight pipes- x.pipes

one of my catalytic converters went.

idkn much about exhaust systems.. so if people can help me out that would be great..

should i:

gut the catalytics

put x-pipes on

or put straight pipes on..

or if anyone anyone has a better idea other than buying an exhaust system please let me know..

that is unless a new exhaust system would not be expensive..

thanks

hfc's make it less raspy than test pipes. gutting your stock cats would give your more hp similar to test pipes. x-pipes has more to do with your exhaust setup than cats. all depends what you're looking for - performance/sound/cost?

i am going to jack this thread for some of my own questions about this..

so what about gutted cats, aftermarket ypipe and a coupe midpipe with stock sedan muffler.. would this setup be raspy? and would i have a cel for the gutted cats?

stock muffler should keep the rasp down but "test pipes" and headers are the 2 biggest sources of it. so yes it will be, but its hard to say exactly how much. not sure about the cel, you can always use non-foulers to space the sensors out of the air flow.

from wat i understand x-pipes will even out exhaust flow and thus improve performance slightly. i dont know how this affects sound at all. from wat ive seen exhaust systems with x-pipes make slightly better hp.
