Need help diagnosing problem

My car is finally starting to show its age with over 112k miles.

About 3 weeks ago, one day my car wouldn't start right away. I thought it was weird and it started fine the very next try. A few days go by and it happens again. Then the problem became persistant. Then last Saturday, my car starts misfiring like crazy....so the car has been sitting in the garage since.

I found one of the ignition coils were fried. So after waiting in line all night to get my new Iphone 4, I stopped by Turbo Toys and bought a new ignition coil. I replaced it and that solved the misfiring issue...but I still can't figure out why the car has trouble starting. Now it's so bad that it took me 10 minutes until it finally started on Thursday. The car is still sitting in my parent's garage until I can fix it. Thankfully, my parents have a spare car that I'm driving until I figure out what the hell to do.

The problem:
I try to start the car and nothing happens. I can hear the fuel pump turn on. The battery is fine because all the accessory lights come on. When I try to start the car, there's no sound of clicking or the car trying to turn over...actually, there's no sound of anything. After so many tries, it will finally start without any hesitation.

Any ideas?

It may be the clutch safety switch. Mine went bad. I had to repeatedly smash the clutch pedal to the floor and it would eventually make contact and start. It's easy to bypass with a piece of wire stripped at both ends and inserted into the connector plug, but do this only until you can get a new switch or eliminate that as the problem.

Never heard of this one. Sounds like a relatively common problem. *knock on wood*

That's exactly what I was thinking, but had no clue if that was a part. I mash down on the clutch as hard as I can sometimes and that used to help. Now, the car just won't start.

The easiest way to tell if the clutch switch is your problem is to use a jumper wire to trick the ECM, but be aware that you can then start the car in gear.

Well, I replaced the blown coil last Thursday... that fixed the misfiring issue. I replaced
the clutch safety switch Thursday...that fixed the starting issue. So I've been driving the car since Thursday.

Well, the car starting misfiring AGAIN yesterday. I'm assuming it's another blown ignition coil, although it's not the same one I replaced.

Does this mean I have a bad ground/electrical issue/ecu issue?

What EMS?

Are all your engine grounds solid, mainly the front passenger side (should be 2).
