Brake Caliper Rebuild?

So i noticed recently that my brakes started squeaking i thought it was a bit odd being i changed em about 4k miles ago and i havent been driving the car REAL hard. So i did a walk around sunday feeling the pads all the way around and noticed that the right front brake the pad on the inside of the rotor had a lot LESS life in em probably less then 20% and everywhere else on the car had what felt like more than half i noticed this last time i did my brakes as well but i wasnt sure being it was the first time i did the brakes since i owned the car. My question is do i need to take it somewhere to have the caliper rebuilt from what it sounds like its getting held up and causing premature pad wear. Or is it possible to do it myself?

need to know if you are talking about brembo brakes or nissan and the mileage.

there are caliper rebuild kits available if you want to DIY....i think riverside infiniti sells them (888)740-7744

...also i think you need to take the wheel off and look at/measure the pad.
Feeling it uneven doesn't mean anything, they don't all wear exactly the same.

i agree that i wont get a 100% accurate measurement till i pull the wheel off but i felt a huge difference from the other pads from what it felt like its wearing the same as they were when i replaced them the first time. Il have to pull the wheel off and take a look.

One reason the insude pads might wear faster than the outside pads is the sliding caliper design of the brakes. The piston come in direct contact with the inside pads.

That design wouldn't be limited to just the right front caliper though which is where im noticing the abnormal pad wear.

When you did your brakes last time, did you properly lubricate everything?
Because of the 'floating' nature of calipers, if you don't lube everything good, you can end up wearing one pad a LOT faster than the other.

^Well, it's worth a try before you go though all the trouble to rebuild it.

might also want to check that the shims are on there properly. if you recently changed them and they started squeaking after that, more likely an install issue than they all of a sudden went out. or did you notice abnormal wear when you changed them?

Well pulled the wheels off this past weekend and inspected the pads and turns out i was feeling the wrong part on the brakes. Turns out i dont have an issue with pad wear. Now being were on the subject of brakes i was planning on my next brake job id swap the rotors. Any suggestions on brands or drilled or slotted ect. i wish i had the cash to throw down on a BBk but that wont be for a while if possible id also like to go with Stainless lines as well while im down there.

Thanks a lot! Not sure what to go with i had drilled and slotted on the last car and had no complaints. Are there any pros with going with any of the other designs?

^Not really. There aren't any benefits of drilling/slotting rotors that aren't designed for it. They just look nice.
